You're not missing a thing.

Damn, this BSOD failure just came out of the blue (no pun intended).

i'm surprise at how many times you've had to reinstall your systems.

That comes from installing and uninstalling different software and upgrading hardware over the years...

Good thing I've got lotsa of old hardware to help troubleshoot things... And a second PC. :fingerscrossed:

Sorry to hear that man...well when my power supply got fried a while back I had to do re-install, with the help of a friend because the re-install wouldn't take for some reason...sh*t was straight up a$$.

Good luck, bro.

I ended up doing that...threw in a new video board at that time...should have put in more RAM...512MB just doesn't cut the mustard, yo.

Nope.

Tried to do a repair from the WinXP CD, but no go.

I think I might have some kind of hardware failure: I'm even having trouble installing a new copy of XP on a new HD....

Uh oh.

What error do you see on the BSOD? If you can post it, we can maybe pinpoint what part is failing.

Their brains and fingers are revving up as you say that.

*prepares for a barrage of hardware/network/system acronyms*

Oddly, it's an ACPI-compliance error... :headscratch:

And I get the same message when I tried to install a fresh copy on a new HDD. :headscratch: :headscratch:

After some 'net searches and reading, I'm gonna run Memtest86 to verify that my RAM modules are okay, then upgrade the BIOS if the memory checks out...

I should've taken the day off: I won't be able to concentrate on work. :bleh:

EDIT: I did get a chance last night to check the data on my two HDDs... All OK... Whew. :victory:

Did you recently add more memory to your system? But that seems like an odd failure, especially if you didn't flash the BIOS prior to the error happening.

I'm sure you saw this MS support page:
http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=314830

Good luck. Maybe it's time for a new PC.

Nope... Been running 1GB for a good while now.

Yeah, very odd.

I was posting something on my niece's Facebook page and boom, BSOD...

Good luck. Maybe it's time for a new PC.

It's a good time, I suppose: RAM is cheap at the moment: 2GB is about $40 and dual core mobo-CPU combos are around $100... Probably need a new power supply to support the new mobo...

Recently I received some dramas from someone, but the sound wasn't working. The sound worked for the person that I got it from, so I asked for replacement discs, but unfortunately, the replacement discs do not have sound either. Has anyone heard of something like this happening? I have no clue what's going on. And yes, I did have the volume turned up. I tried it on two separate DVD players, but there was no sound at all. If anyone can help me out or have suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Does it work on your PC?

Is it DVD-Video or avi files burned onto a DVD?
