^ Are the two of you using Internet Explorer or Firefox?

I'm using Firefox with an installed ad-blocking feature and I don't get any virus warnings.

I think maybe the advertisements on this forum are triggering the warnings... I'll let the Admin know. :victory:

No problem... Thanks for the detailed info. :)

I am using a recently updated Internet Explorer. I am somewhat relieved to know that ENNA has had this experience. It is driving me up the wall... I am afraid to take any other action except what the anti virus has checked off in the box that says 'Deny Access'.

It is something to do with Ads. but I just investigated a little further with the Anti virus 'help page' and there is a repeating list of stuff like 'Trojan' and Ads etc over and over.

It is rather daunting when I don't know how to eliminate this without letting it enter into my computer.

Any information is most welcome.'

^ One other question: did either of you upgrade your antivirus programs recently or anything similar?
14 May 2010, 10:12 #5508
I think this is the same anti virus programme that has been there for quite a long time.
I just read the shrieking page and it says the following...WOH.htm

contains recognition pattern of the

HTML/Infected Web Page.Gen.HTML.script virus "

The antivirus says 'Dangerous. Deny Access' so I click on that box which they have marked and have to do it twice (a la jdorama method when changing thread at times) then it disappears until I change to another thread here and up it pops again.
this does not happen on any other website.

Sounds very odd. If you see it again, do copy down the exact page that you were at that led to the virus warning. If you're getting it in every thread, try visiting some drama or artiste pages and see if the same thing happens. thanks!

Hi Genma,

Well I just opened up this site again and now it seems that there are different ads being listed every time. I have clicked off six of these windows right now and each one is from a different ad/virus/html/ It must be this site and it happens every time I click from the opening to the next page to the next subject and when I click on to any other page here. It is really very weird .
I am not going to try to delete this or do anything to change what my antivirus tells me to do, which is click the box which says 'Deny Access"

It's beyond me.

No just the normal daily anti-virus updates, that is all. I got the Trojan virus message again today before I even logged on to JD. :shakehead:

(edited to say) I logged out and came back to JD and opened this thread and so far no virus message. The thread that has the virus message problem for me is "Got Something you Want to Say."

(edited again) I just came back to this site again after about an hour or so and only looked at the homepage, did not log in, and I got the Anti Virus warning again.

Could you list down the name and version of your anti-virus program? I might need to ask the anti-virus developers to check on it.

This virus alert did appear as a false positive for some anti-virus programs, simply by detecting some HTML which they deem unnecessary or potentially used for things that should not be done.

One example was having an iframe with 0 width and 0 height, which is highlighted by Avira.

Avira Anti Virus Personal is what I have.

Don't know why it's kicking up just on jdorama.

@Genma: I also have Avira AntiVirus Personal. Just like brad2 it only gives me antivirus warnings on JDorama almost everytime I open up your homepage.

Looks like its only happening for Avira. There are other sites that complained that their installation of Avira is popping up with virus alerts due to a certain detection in the HTML, and reported the exact same "virus" name.

Their reply to those who complained about the false alert
Avira wrote:The sample was reanalyzed and the detection is OK. In the file you sent us there is a hidden IFRAME that loads a script, which probably loads some ads. The problem is that this mechanism is used almost exclusively by malware, so that's why AntiVir alerts on it.

You may also want to read about someone's analysis of this problem with Avira. It states that their scanning method will lead to false positives for Google Web Toolkit applications. Not sure if adsense false under this, but its a possibility.

http://grack.com/blog/2010/03/17/the-sorry-state-of-avira-anti-virus-heuristics/

I'm checking with Google if the hidden iframes are coming from them and if they pose any harm.

^ Glad I didn't switch over to Avira, even though Consumer Reports rated it highly.

Also, the free version of Avira has those irritating adware popups hassling the user to buy the pro version. :grumble:
