the batteries are non replacable but they last a lot longer than you'd think, i think they're good for close to 500+ full charges. you can get replacement batteries installed though and they seem to work really well, and the prices on them aren't really terrible like around $30 or so. If you don't want to tinker with the ipod itself you can always send it into apple and get it replaced (total price is just over 100), and they'll either swap out the battery or get you a new ipod (since the website says you'd lose all your data i'm assuming that they're gonna give you a new ipod). still there are even more alternatives like external batteries and what not. I wouldn't really worry too much about the battery life on these things though. I've had mine for about 6 months and i haven't really noticed a significant decrease in battery life. shuffle, eq, light, lots of menu switching, volume, bit rate of music files, etc that all affects the battery life too so if you're going to be paranoid about it you can cut back on those things...also syncing it to the computer will drain the battery too since the ipod isn't designed to work on external power sources. pluging it into the computer will charge the battery but the hd will still be spinning and drawing power from the battery while it charges. hope that helps

oh just realized i didn't answer your question. i've got a 4th gen and i get about 8-9 hrs per charge. but that varries based on how freqently i change playlists, bitrate of the music, etc.

yup same here when I leave home: it's wallet, phone and iPod :hehe: (before I had the iPod it was a minidiskplayer, I sorta miss it...)
and don't worry about the battery, when it eventually dies you can pick one up for $30 here seems pretty easy to replace too.

I ran a test before: it ran for 15hours straight.
Wow, my battery fresh out the box lasted for about 7-9 hours, and averages about 6-7 now. I guess I listen to it too loud ^_^

haha were you in the audience? :hehe: and if so i'm jealous...i've got a shuffle and a 4th gen, a mini would make it a nice loving family :bonk:
i've tried other players and really i've got to say i still love my 'pod... all the other players i've tried look so techie and geeky (i'm geeked out enough as it is) the ipod just looks slick. Oh and the rio's being shown next to a 1st or 2nd gen ipod. they've gotten smaller and better looking with age.
:rofl:oh and a funny little editorial about the ipod shuffle:rofl:

Ipods have been the in-thing for some time now... :hehe: But you know they are a type of mp3 player, except they also play AAC files as well.

How could I forget those protected files....
Ive had my ipod over 2 and a half years now, use it every single day pretty much, the battery life has faded a little, but still not too bad!
Was at work from 8:30 till 5:30 today, hardly turned it off the whole time and it just managed it :)
Do love it so much, although its only 10gb, and I have about 19 Gigs of music, so would be nice to have a slightly larger one...

Good morning,
Finally got around to doing some research and started to order parts for my replacement PC, as my existing PC is 3+ years old, excluding occasional upgrades.
So far have ordered:
CASE: Lian-Li PC52
POWERSUPPLY: Seasonic S-12 600W
Choosing parts that will make this PC compact, quiet, and upgradable.
