Of these 3 laptops brands which one is the best? Sorry I do not have too many details on them at this time.

1. Toshiba Satellite

2. Compaq Presario

3. Gateway Notebook

Thanks! :)

*edited to say* Never mind I decided against all 3.

Yeah I was in the process of registering for a free laptop when I finally read all the fine print. Whew!!!! There was way too much involved!!! :shakehead: I would like to eventually get a laptop, so if anyone here has one that they really like or would like to recommend, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. :)

Laptops seems to be more problematical, since they're carried about and get banged around... Geting an extended warranty is probably a good idea...

My niece has had a Compaq for a couple of years now, and she hasn't had any problems with it... Our VP has a Dell and it's had batteries, HDs, etc. replaced over the last 3-4 years... Under warranty, but still a hassle... Bleah.

I agree.. laptops are a hassle. I would have like to get a desktop and get it suped-up but laptops are more convenient for school. But since school's almost over.. I'm thinking on investing in one.

I would love to own one with a bangin' LCD. Even if it means rerouting my iPod video funds..

:grumble:

Thanks for your comments B-kun. I appreciate them. :say_thanx: Although a laptop is not high on my priority list I still would like to have one. I am asking now so that when a really good sale comes up I will at least have narrowed down the brands. :)

LCDs are the hot thing right now, but they're still a work in progress: video and graphics are still better on a CRT.

Saw this on the news.
Tired of ghosting, bleed through, and other bad things LCD's have? Then get ready for SED! It's like a LCD size CRT. :) more info

the huge flatscreen CRTs?

im wary.

or i can just wait a few more years....

I still AM married to my laptop..

and purchasing another desktop would be really devastating to it.

Define huge. :headscratch:

I just bought a new 19" CRT for my PC and it only cost $200 (hassle notwithstanding)... And its image quality is better than any LCD I've checked out.

By that definition all CRTs are huge... The basic design is like 100 years old... ;)

My flat tube 19" monitor (Viewsonic E90F) is still like 18"-20" deep, but there's no arguing with the picture quality. :)

That's the beauty of the SED. Quality of a CRT, but as thick as a LCD.
Since SEDs apply the same light emission theory as CRTs, they provide dynamic color expression, a sharp picture, and faster videoresponse than LCDs and plasma display panels (PDPs). In addition, SEDs do not require electronic beam deflection, making possible screens of more than 40 inches in size that are only several centimeters thick..

I can't wait. :)

I hope it's a winner for Canon... Time to buy some of their stock, ne?

Ooops: $60+ a share. Maybe not.

Pennies and $100 bills too...

Still cheaper than Google at $385+ a share. :beaten:

I always thought LCD's had better res..., but their compact space more than makes up for it.
