Hi JeffreyDude,

Welcome. :) I agree with Eve. Do something special and memorable. It doesn't matter if your friends like this other guy, it only matters if the girl you are interested in really likes this other guy. Can you send her a letter by express mail. You don't have special phone cards that make phone calls cheaper in Europe? Can you text mesage her with special messages on her mobile/ cell phone? My friend from France sends me text messages all the time on my cell phone and I live in NY. And he doesn't have too much money. :D

Relax JeffreyDude is she is the right one for you, it will all work out. Good Luck! :say_gdluck:

I'm on vacation in Japan, so my mobile doesn't work here. Also she has an old mobile so she can't recieve any mails. Just text messages from another mobile. I just can't think of something I can do from here. Maybe I just have to be patient and hope for a happy end:P

Last time I saw her, she said not to worry and that everything will be alright...I just really hope so..

I'm glad that I can talk about this here though. It makes me happy. Thnx:)

shoujo22 wrote:I have a "What's bothering you?" question too. I just told one of my friends that I didn't like nattou. I jokingly said that I thought that it was one of the grossest things on the planet. She got mad and said "Seriously, don't make fun of other people's culture." Eh? How is it that by saying that nattou's gross can be interpreted as my making fun of someone else's culture? She's heard me say the same thing about gumbo in the same joking fashion and she knows that my grandmother grew up eating the stuff.

As far as making fun of another culture I'd never do that. I would NEVER do that. I just don't understand where she got that from. :pout: Was what I said really that bad? I was just kidding and she went all crazy on me.

Hi shoujo22,

Maybe this belongs in the "Whats Bothering You " thread but Hey you know I am going to give you my opinion anyhow. ;) :D Some people equate insulting their food or dress or music or whatever with insulting their culture. Obviously this person mistook your right to have an opinion about her cultural food from her homeland with an insult. Just explain to her that just because you do not like "nattou" it has nothing at all to do with disliking or ridiculing her culture. She sounds like she needs to lighten up a little! Maybe she has heard one insult too many recently. ;)

Does someone else who works at the hotel front desk know her full name? Ask for the front desk manager. Maybe you can say you want to write a thank you note to her so they won't get suspicious. Or are you going to talk to her soon and get her phone number..then just ask her what her full name is. :bonk: :)

I see. I feel really bad about it too because I know what its like to feel that someone is making fun of your culture. I didn't know what to say to her so I just let her walk off. I guess I'll apologize and just try to let her know that I didn't mean it that way.

Thanks alot! Sorry for posting in the wrong place.

"no good looking girl to talk to eh?"

lol I hope they will spell the name right.

I think everything will work out for you. Make sure to bring her back something very nice from Japan. Maybe an Omamori or something with a story behind it too that will show you have been thinking of her.

3 red roses, wow, that is fast. You just met the girl last week?! well, if you want to take the first giant step and take a risk and a big impression, this is the way to do it. Personally, IMO, i would take it slower and get to know her further, wait a few days, then slowly get into it, and the flowers will come eventually, but three red roses!? well, it's your call, ...then go for it then. :bonk:
10 Aug 2005, 13:18 #318
Eh, it's only three roses. ;)
