If it's green, it's a midori sour.

My spot, and you know it! :hehe:

I went out drinking at Duke's last night. Was too loud and too crowded. Not my typical choice, however that's what my friend chose and I just tagged along with it.

Is that right along Waikiki beach? Doesn't sound like my kind of place...unless there is dancing involved. :beaten: *ducks from frypan* :ashamed: :hehe:

Duke's eh? i wonder if they have a chain of restartants....even here in OC, cause they have a Dukes here in Huntington Beach, OC. Maybe it is just coincidence and just happens to be the same exact name...

No dancing. Unless some guys are really wasted, then they might do some weird stuff that one may interperet as dancing. :hehe:
I don't care for that place. Too noisy.

Asahi is reasonably popular over here, see it in quite a lot of bars, and most supermarkets. Im a big fan, although on a night out my drink of choice is the mighty turbo shandy! That or dirty vimto
Enna wrote:Ok mrmacca I guess I get to be the quizzler. What is a turbo shandy & a dirty vimto? I know what a regular shandy is, I have had a few.

Sometimes you have to answer your own questions. :bonk: Sorry to say but they both sound like some drinks that I will pass up.

Turbo Shandy:

1 Shot vodka
!/2 pint lager
1/3 bottle Smirnoff Ice
to top up red bull

Add the Vodka, Lager and Smirnoff Ice into a Chilled pint glass and top up with Red Bull.

Definetly NOT a shandy to drink when your driving!!!

Dirty or Cheeky Vimto:

1 bottle WKD Blue (WKD =Vodka drink mix, got its name from WicKeD)
25ml Shot port

Pour 1 shot of Port into a pint glass with ice, top up with 1 bottle of Blue WKD.

Tastes like Vimto*, but with a nice kick!

----------------

* Since I didn't know what Vimto was.... here it is:

The drink is a mix of three fruit juices - grape, blackcurrant and raspberry and a blend of 23 fruit essences, herbs and spices.Vimto was created by John Noel Nichols in a wooden barrel in his warehouse at 49 Granby Row, Manchester, in 1908. It was intended to be a healthy pick-me up which gave those who drank it vim and vigour. It can be served hot or cold or made with carbonated water.

As per Wikipedia a Regular Shandy:

A shandy (shortened form of shandygaff) is a cocktail made from a mixture of beer (often ale) and a non-alcoholic beverage. The non-alcoholic beverage is usually sparkling lemonade in Europe and ginger ale in the Caribbean. The proportions of the two ingredients are adjusted to taste, normally half-and-half, although shandy sold in tins is typically much weaker, around 1 part beer to 10 parts lemonade.

A variant on this is the "lager top" in which a small measure of lemonade is added to a pint or half-pint of lager. In some areas, tomato juice is mixed with beer as a cocktail.

Now if you think those drinks would put you down and grow some hair on your chest look at this cocktail recipe I came across while looking up the other recipes.

Flatliner:

1 oz. Tequila
1 oz. Sambucca*
top Tabasco pepper sauce

One shot of tequila layered onto one shot of sambucca. Add a layer of tabasco sauce.

* Sambuca (also spelt Sambucca) is an anise-flavored liqueur. It is usually a clear liquid. This is often referred to as white sambuca in order to differentiate it from derivative spirits that are deep blue in colour (known as black sambuca) or bright red (red sambuca).

Traditionally drunk with a coffee bean or two dropped in the drink.

You are along the right lines! Although for the few years I have been drinking them, a turbo shandy has simply involved buying a pint, drinking half, then filling it up with a smirnoff ice (red, not the black, that makes it awful). It is actually a really tasty drink! You do get rather merry after quite a few.
The one you quoted sounds more like the 'Super mega turbo death shandy' we made for a friend of mine last year. It involved everything you said, plus some odd norwegian wine that was about 30% and some other bits and bobs. After downing it he passed out and didn't get up for about 2 hours...

The cheeky/dirty vimto is the same thing, although when we do it, it is usually more than a single shot of port. Im not sure if vimto is sold all over the world, or just here in blighty, but is quite a nice soft drink :)

The WORST drink I ever had was some chinese brandy like substance I had two weeks ago. My friends dad bought it back from a business trip. The taste itself was awful, but the real kicker was that half the bottle was full up with FLOATING DEAD BABY MICE. I think I swollowed a chunk or two, really not great :/

Im currently partaking in my 'freshers week' at uni, which involves drinking yourself stupid most days, so i shall report back any other marvelous mixtures I encounter!
