I bought this bottle of nigorizake at the Japanese market, merely because of the bottle!

It made me laugh, and the name...."Aladdin Bottle." Maybe if you drink enough you can get the whole genie thing going. :hehe:

Last month a new izakaya called Oosu Ni-chome Sakaba opened up in Nagoya. It has a Showa retro feel and serves some fairly bog standard dishes averaging around 500 yen. That's no great incentive but the bar also advertises a nomihodai (all you can drink) service every day at any time. A draft beer is usually 400 yen and a glass of shochu goes for around 500 yen so when the bar advertises all you can drink in two hours for the sum of 980 yen, that seems like an offer that could severely damage your health. "I bet the staff serve slowly," I hear you cry. Well the place has a self service bar so the only delay is likely to be if you can't remember how to put one foot in front of the other towards the end of a session. It's open from 4:00pm to 1:00am and if you want to go over the two hour mark then it is, I kid you not, 500 yen for every extra hour.

Yes we'd have to look for greener pastures, or younger pastures, I mean.

Why wasnLt this open when I lived in Nagoya :shamefulcry:

Were you studying there? If yes, it might be a good thing it wasn't open. You probably wouldn't even remember living in Japan, besides a few pictures of you, passed out with the spine folded in a weird way, in the train.

Yikes.

I found out why Sapporo beer is brewed in Canada a few days ago. It seems they bought a brewer here.

In 2006, Sapporo announced they would be acquiring No. 3 Canadian brewer Sleeman in a $400-million all-cash deal. ... Most Sapporo sold in North America is brewed by Sapporo's recently-purchased, former Sleeman brewery in Canada, not at Sapporo's own breweries in Japan.

Now I know why I was able to buy Sapporo beer from grocery store to crappy convenience store.
