First of all, I want to start off by saying OMMFG  .

Strike 1: My co-workers have this thing about arguing over who's country is the best (China or India). That's okay because they do it everyday and its usually pretty funny. Plus I think that they're really cool people so it doesn't usually bother me... usually. But today, I have one of the worst headaches that I've ever had in my whole life. About two weeks I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with a severe upper respiratory infection and a really bad case of laryngitis. I'm still not feeling so hot even now because they've had to switch meds on me three times. This crap that I'm taking now always make me feel like I have to barf and it makes my head hurt really badly. So anyway, I asked the guys to keep it down because my head hurts (and because we're in a lab and people next to an across from us are working in their labs). Whenever they tell me to turn my music down or something I always do. But those @$$holes couldn't have respect enough for me to do the same. They got louder with each other. So I slammed my lab book down on my desk and went into the postdoc. room.

Strike 2: My co-worker (the chick now) comes in and says "I need invoices from all of these old orders faxed to me by lunch". Lunch for me starts at 11:30. She gave me the papers at like...oh around 10 o'clock  ! There were so many old order forms from orders that were placed as far back as two years ago. First of all I only started here 9 months ago! Secondly WE'RE A HUGE FREAKING INSTITUTION so it took some of those people forever and a day to locate the right lab...despite the fact that I gave the fools purchase order numbers  . Thirdly about 2/3 of the companies were either out of business or had merged with some other company so having to track old records down from them was just lovely :grumble: . So I after I'm done I come back into the lab to get my keys so that I can go to lunch. I walk up on this one grad. student who's been rotating from lab to lab for a few weeks saying something along the lines of "Women can't think analytically. They put family life and emotion first, so school is always much harder for them. Especially non-white southern females. Most of them are rude and ignorant anyway." . I said "Well what about me? I graduated from a top Southern College with honors to boot." So the d*&k decides to make jokes and says"Well there are these things called freaks of nature. You're a biologist so I'm sure you know about this." And laughed it off. Before I could catch myself I said "F*&^ you. I didn't find a single word of that s&*% funny. You're being racist and sexist and you think its funny? You'd better be glad that we're in this lab. I hope you get hit by a car or something on the way to lunch  :goddammit: ." I grabbed my labtop and my keys and left. That loser has no idea how close he came to being punched in the nuts :shoot: .

Strike three: There has yet to be a strike three. If there is one in the near future (as in today) then I'll be losing my job. I've never been one for BS and I've never been a girlie girl. I don't keep my mouth shut when I feel like I being done wrong and I never will. I don't care who you are. And honestly, I've been able to curve my temper sooooooooo much since I graduated from high school. But today just wasn't the day for foolishness. I feel like crap and I'm being disrespected on so many different levels. :banghead: I'm gonna go back in this lab, sit at my desk, and get my work done. I don't want anyone talking to me about anything. I just want to be left alone to do my work so I can get out of here at 5.

It's essentially unavoidable, though.

Unless you're independently wealthy.

The pay is lousy, but I'm getting experience here so despite the jerks I think I'll stay. That is, if I don't get fired for my behavior today. The least they can let me do is finish my project before/if they fire me. The Ph.D. program that I'm going to go through makes you do like...a year and a half's worth of grad work and a project to boot. So I'll be a year ahead on my project if I can finish it.

I just really want to punch someone today. And I'm a relatively calm person. I let a lot of stuff roll off my back that most people wouldn't but....not today  .

No real crap about the job to post.

In fact, I love it (my new job)! :D

The only "junk" thing is that there is SO MUCH work. I have been staying late every night ever since I got out of training to work on live files. But the great thing is that your long hours are compensated! Yeah baby! :metaldevil:

i wouldn't do overtime at my place because they don't pay you for it. ungrateful bas*****!! :usuck:

the bosses are wishy washy and couldn't make a decent decision if they tried!

maybe that's why we're not making money. good business eh?

Hey are you working at my company, 'cause that's exactly the same problem here: rampant managerial incompetence. :bleh:

we had a good boss a few years ago but he left and we've now got a monkey. we've gone from 1st to 12th out of 13 in the league of dealerships in our region since he took over! :grumble:

Well, the one good thing about my job is that I get paid time and a half for overtime. I usually get 10 hours of over time/week at the least. The people here tend to dump a lot of stuff on me since I'm so young. They'll use that "It's good experience" catch phrase to justify giving me tedious, repetitive crap to do...on top of my own work/project. But its okay. Over time is good.

They have enough money here to be able to allow so many overtime hours anyway...especially considering the crappy pay rate in the first place :grumble: .

Well I hope your day today is better than yesterday shoujo22. :) That man that made the nasty anti-female/racial comments to you should be reported to the Human Resource Dept. He sounds like he needs some serious sensitivity training. Hang in there m'dear! :victory: :)

I'm having a better day so far. Needless to say the guy's been avoiding me all morning :usuck:. I was thinking about reporting him but ultimately decided that he wasn't worth it. Besides, I think that he's kind of scared of me now  . That's so not what I intended to do...but maybe that's not a such bad thing :hehe: .

My boss has been out of town all week so getting an earful from me was actually a blessing for him. Had my boss heard that, the guy would have been in deep sh*t for sure. Especially since my boss's wife is Indonesian :hehe: .

I'm hanging in there though. Thanks for the motivating words :victory: .

Taking today off. :woot:

Needed a break from the rampant incompetence.
8 Aug 2005, 23:53 #1239
I couldn't take the day off even if I were bleeding to death :shamefulcry:. I'm needed here all of the time. I haven't had a vacation at all. I graduated on a Saturday and was needed full time here the following Monday :grumble: .
