i agree with you....i have seen many quality japanese films... quality is not merely a function of money and is often independent of financial considerations....i think the best japnese films though are the ones that don't require a big budget (non-action films)...because these focus more intimately on character, story, and acting....rather than stunts, expensive sets, and large scale casts.
that's why i love japanese doramas because they don't require large expensive budgets...the joy in watching them stems from the stories, the acting, and the characters - the most human qualities of any show or film.

That's probably a common feeling amongst JDorama patrons. :)

This was answered yesterday, no? Means something like "In between Shimokitazawa and Harajaku." It's up to the each individual to determine what it means for them personally. :hehe:

with all the protein that aya gets from eating so much natto....no wonder her hair is growing back so quickly....and healthy looking too :)

She's an ever-rising star in Japan and Asia at large....she seems astute enough to know her audience and know where she will acquire the most fulfilling experiences to advance her craft without needing to pander to the lure of Hollywood. I believe her responses regarding the progression of her career were thoughtful and focused. She's a young woman who understands there is so much she can learn and extract from projects at home without needing to go abroad to Hollywood.
Although she can't use computers well, it appears all the natto is good brain food.

in Japan televison holds the esteemed position that the film does here in the States....it's the dominant form of entertainment...not to say that the Japanese film industry is insignificant but it doesn't occupy the same hallowed place as TV...TV generates more money, with commericals and what not, than the domestic Japanese box office.
haven't you noticed how even some of the most popular stars don't necessarily transition to film as most American actors aspire to do.
unless Aya was able to land a meaningful role why go Hollywood....she's so young at this point i don't think she would get a meaningful role that would substantiate her inclusion in a film....language barrier not being the least reason.

I'm 99% sure someone in her organization monitors this thread as part of their official PR job. Probably not much of it gets back to Aya other than, "Your fans still all adore you."
Sort of half-way suspect that the person whose job it is to monitor this and other Aya fansites is little bit jealous that Aya-chan does have so many fans that love her from the heart. Not jealous of Aya, but jealous that he has so many sincere competitors.

as a resume you're trying to say.... :dancing: that you cant compare the monster of the industry of films like hollywood, both are very diffent in many ways for example: ju-on japanese and USA version, the usa version sucks, another thing that we have to check is the "imagination" even if the japanese films cannot compete with the extraordinary budge of the USA films, they can create many extraordinary movies :woot:
Freefall wrote:Very interesting and informative article :woot:
So It looks Aya will stay with us for some more time :dancing: as she now says she is planning to go on acting and singing till she is 30-40.
ILm not sure if she will ever get roles in Hollywood or really want to go to Hollywood. Most asian actors stay in Asia. Only a few exceptions like Ziyi Zhang made it to Hollywood. If that is as good thing; ILm not sure. Not because they are bad actors, of course! But I personally think they loose their own good style and personallity to "fit into Hollywood." DonLt like to see that happening to Aya
And I wonder about her saying: "I generally decline requests to take a photo with them, but I try to sign autographs." in that article. Why doesnLt she want to have photos taken with fans?
