to be honest i agree with you completely. and ju-on is a good example.
also, yeah ok american films have better effects...but if the story isn't as good or the idea; then it will suck
look at the xmen films, everyone goes on about how great the effects are, in 10 years time they won't be so good and we'll be left with a bunch of films featuring weird looking people complaining about how everyone sees them as freaks.
those films are so over rated, "you guys are freaks, you stand out, get over it already. do we really need three films for you to tell us that?"

heh! perhaps will never know it, only future generations will know the answer   japanese films are just splendid "no need an expensive performance" to project... in a very good quality of course since complicated situations to a peculiar story or maybe a funny drama.... :victory:

yeah that was the longest English article about Aya i've ever seen or read.

But I personally think they loose their own good style and personallity to "fit into Hollywood."

i agree....because they get stereotypical roles that don't often capitalize on the actor's or actress' talent.

And I wonder about her saying: "I generally decline requests to take a photo with them, but I try to sign autographs." in that article. Why doesnLt she want to have photos taken with fans?

maybe because of wanting to protect her physical image from manipulation by the media and others who may want to take advantage of such pictures.

well my nephew isn't very impressived with the xmen films. but then hes three, and would only like it if they had a few trains or buses in it....

maybe, like me, she thinks she looks minging in photos. i hate having my picture taken, but then if i looked gorgeous like aya i wouldn't mind :D but maybe she feels she isn't as beautiful as everyone says. for that we better give her a big goddam huge.
come here aya ((((((((((((((((((((((((hug))))))))))))))))))))

CanLt hardly believe that. I mean she is getting photographed like daily and she always looks like she is always smiling and looks like she is having fun.
And as she is having thousands of fans and beeing #1 like everywhere how could she think she isnLt perfect

since its nearing X-mas...anyone hasn't seen Aya's date with Domouto? The first one.....no nattou curry in this date.

Can't say I've seen this one - it's just too much hassle to go back through every page to the beginning!

Do you happen to have it. by any chance? :puppydog:

And maybe the bit with the photos might be something to do with the agnecy she's with? Or that it's just tiring to have many people coming up and asking for a picture every day ....

yeah but its more a mental thing. i mean everyone can tell you you're beautiful and you can either a) believe them and become somewhat arrogant or b) can't understand for the life of you why everyone thinks that
i'm sure aya knows shes stunning cos everyone tells her, but i also think that she probably has hang ups just like everyone else and sometimes thinks "ugggg" and that might be why she doesn't have photos taken.

as i mentioned previously...i think it's a much more subtle, strategic thing ....it's one thing to give autographs to your fans but pictures can EASILY be misappropriated by ppl for unwanted purposes.

I'm 99% sure someone in her organization monitors this thread as part of their official PR job. Probably not much of it gets back to Aya other than, "Your fans still all adore you."

If someone does monitor this thread......guess that means they know I'm a super sukebe  :beaten:

hahaha...well if true, then more then just "Your fans still all adore you"

they would let her know what we think of her performance in this drama, this movie, and what we think she needs to improve on in her acting<---if mentioned

Haha about the super sukebe-ness

You know the main reason for monitoring the Internet is to improve. But it takes more time over the Internet. Read about the likes and dislikes. Maybe people like Aya's sports dramas better than Aya's comedies. The forums will play a factor in deciding which roles she should accept.

I know the guy that does that for our company. He looks at cork boards and forum sites all day.

@Hanzo: well......if they are reading and they do take into consideration on Aya's roles in dramas...thats pretty cool.

My take on whether her sports dramas are better or her comedy type one, I wouldn't mind either or. I just hope they do more for the drama and better script writing. Shimokita Sundays wasn't interesting enough for me and her sports dramas......I think her character in Attack No.1 was really likeable. Her acting in that was easy to watch and enjoy.

On the other hand, "Aya World's" main source of income is probably from corporation rather than fans. Whereas in other companies it's the individuals that account for all the revenue. It'd be interesting to know for sure.

That's weird. Almost everyone I know in Japan, even those that have never been to the USA, know English pretty well. Not good enough to get a 600 on the SAT English portion. But good enough to get around and read posts.

But who knows...? Maybe her agency doesn't care what International fans think. That would be fair enough. Main profit comes from Japan.

i know everybody learns english in japan but i guess they are reluctant to employ it....hey that's very cool that you met ppl who know english pretty well, i'm seriously impressed!

it's not a personal dig on you or anything but as you mentioned we are peons a in a big pot....i doubt with regard to market trends staffers at aya's agency monitor this site...it would be meaningless....if this site was in japanese perhaps that would be a different case..

about english speaking japanese...i rarely see any celebs with even a modicum of fluency....

Yeah, celebs are probably too busy at even an early age.

When I frist started going to Japan (many years ago) people would come up just to practice their English. Especially gaggles of sailor suited middle school girls. But each year there are less and less of them. Maybe only one or two last visit. The kids seem more eager to try out their Eigo than the adults.
