Oh sure. Take you're time. Just trying to keep this thread alive until I get my new PC up and running completely... :)
i just watched the musashi movies with mifune toshiro this week. man, he was fierce! kind of like i imagine musashi must've been. he did show regret in killing sasaki kojiro. the third movie ends in him being rowed back from ganryujima. these three movies were also based on yoshikawa eiji's books - i'll have to re-read them, but i think that is where the whole story ends. but i have to say, akemi was totally different in these movies from what we saw in the taiga dorama!
when i read d.e.tarver's translation of "the book of five rings", he said that it's hard to sift legend and myth from reality when it comes to musashi. my favorite quote: "the path to wisdom is littered with the bodies of the ignorant". anyway, i have to wonder how much of what we saw is reconstructed...?
i think the taiga dorama was pretty good in showing the internal aspects of musashi, as he evolved from being a swordsman to becoming a warrior. but mifune toshiro was by far the better swordsman, and much more daunting to face imho. wish we could blend the two together...
sorry i write all over the place - guess i'm kinda scatterbrained...

Yep. The book ends after Musashi and Kojiro's duel. For some reason, Akemi is completely different than from the book... The NHK version of Akemi is much closer to that of the book. Writers taking liberties, I suppose.

I agree. The entire Musashi-Yagyu Munenori conflict could've been deleted, IMO....
