I watched the first movie of that Inagaki's trilogy last week. Mifune was really great as Musashi !!!!! But I think he was lookin' a bit old to a 17 year-old guy ... :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: Just kiddin', but it's a good movie. Now, I just need to find the other movies ...

Good for you, Bets!! :applaud: :applaud:

Yeah, Mifune was a bit old (I think he was around 35 at the time) for the role, but that didn't bother me a bit... He's a great actor. :D

Good luck finding the other two... :)

okay, if you look at the name "matahachi", it seems to mean "again eight". which makes no sense. i seem to recall a character in shinsengumi named "matashichi", which would seem to mean "again seven". anyone got any ideas as to how this name came about??? :crazy2: :nut:

i agree. that part didn't make sense, unless they thought that they wanted a bad guy to fight musashi. after all, it's kinda hard to root against sasaki kojiro - he wasn't a bad guy, just sort of a cold person, but not nasty.

but i still like yagyu munenori's "the way of the living sword". example: "It is because a mirror has no commitment to any image that it can clearly and accurately reflect any image before it. The mind of a warrior is like a mirror in that it has no commitment to any outcome and is free to let form and purpose result on the spot, according to the situation." he once killed seven warriors in a single battle while protecting the shogun - no slouch in the blade-slinging skills. also was a student of takuan soho.

I agree too, but they needed a story to make the series last more 10 episodes ...

Incredible, how could a mean guy like Munenori write a thing like that ???
(At least, Munenori is always "the bad guy" ...)

well, i havent seen the drama, but in the book, kojiro is very much the bad guy (does all sort of weird things to women, in particular - akemi) and yagyu munenori wasn't really a bad guy at all - just a guy who was an inferior swordsman living off his famous name - kinda like a guy who had lost his way and kinda given up martial arts for the good life

I guess. I was really disappointed that they would go through all that effort for the Musashi-Munenori conflict, and then just brush off Otsu without explaining how and when she died, especially since theey spent all that time developing that relationship for the previous 48 episodes.... Odd.
