Yeah, I figured SMAP guy was there for ratings appeal... It would be a shame to see the show get cancelled... It's fun and unique.

He's one of the members of SMAP, along with Kimura Takuya, that Shingo Mama guy, and the guy who never smiles...

You're asking the wrong person about that.

I guess the girls are all ga-ga about 'em, but they're just a boy group like N'Sync/Backstreet Boys/etc... Not my cup of tea. :bleh:

bmwracer... it's good that you don't go ga-ga over SMAP and they are not your cup of tea -- which means that you are not gay :hehe:

SMAP came out in the very early 1990s, consists of 6 members: Nakai Masahiro, Kimura Takuya, Katsuyuki Mori, Inagaki Goro, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, Katori Shingo. Around 1996, Katsuyuki Mori left the group to pursue a career in racecar driving, got married to a lady who is 3 years older than him, and had a baby boy.

SMAP's music is generally Pop. Their early songs are very bubble gum love songs. as they got older, the music got better and the lyrics basically still very lovey dovey. usually about love, romance, friendship. I like their song "Sekai ni hitotsu dake no hana" which came out in 2003, is about being being the best individual you can be, no one in this world is the same, everyone is unique like a flower. I also like their latest song "Tomodachi e - Say What You Will" which is about love and friendship, helping each other, the song is composed by Eric Clapton, which is written for Expo 2005 Aichi Japan.

If you are serious about trying SMAP's music the best albums to get are SMAP Vest (released in 2001) which is their greatest hits, lots of pop and fast tracks and PAMS (released in 2001) which is their greatest love ballads, got quite a number of nice songs. Definitely the single "Sekai ni hitotsu dake no hana" is really good (released in 2003).
