Yeah, but HJSplit isn't for joining .avis.. it splits files into smaller parts for uploading :P

No, HJSplit does spilt files, but it does also rejoin avi files as well.

But K-chan said that she used the program to "put together" parts of a drama, not split them. :P

EDIT: See her above post. :P :P

I converted the vob files from Kita no Kuni Kara DVD into avi using AutoGK, but when I try to open it using VirtualDub, it gave me this message.

Should I use another program for conversion? Or is something wrong with my setup... The avi files play fine by themselves, but I need to join them together. Help?

VirtualDub doesn't like audio streams that have a variable bit rate for some reason... Try joining them and see what happens.

You might end up having to demux the audio from the video and process the audio using a program like BeSweetGUI, then re-mux the audio and video back together.

Relatively simple to do, but it's a bit convoluted.

Just had a brainstorm on how to hardsub and re-scale the 1024x576 episodes of Top Sales for DVD. :woot: :victory:

Now to try it out when I get home. :dancing:

There's a whole list of tools here: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/dvd-to-avi-divx-xvid

It said, cannot append segment, video streams have different data formats

Even though they were converted using the same software with the same settings... :banghead:

I guess I can't use AutoGK then, can someone recommend an easy to use program please?

I will look through the list on videohelp, thanks AD!

I don't know of any easy program....

You just need to separate the audio from the video, process the audio using a constant bit rate, then re-join the audio and the video... You can do that using VirtualDubMod and BeSweetGUI... It's not that difficult.

xploring, I don't know if you normally buy computer mags, but Australian PCUser has developed their own (free) video converter which seems to work well, it's called Rockpod 09. Keep an eye on your local newsagent, they keep modifying/improving it and releasing it on their cover DVD.

Turns out there is a constant bit rate option for the audio with AutoGK, I just didn't look. :shakehead: It seems to be ok now. Thanks for your help.

Deleted. Another stupid mistake.

Another conversion curveball: turns out the raws for Double Kitchen are at the nonstandard frame rate of 59.940fps... So along with hardsubbing each episode, I have to scale the frame rate back to the more standard 29.97fps for DVD use...

So each hardsub is gonna take about 2-1/2 hours.

Is that from a PAL source? 60fps?

Hmm, I didn't look at the video properties, but I'm pretty sure it was NTSC.

Finished authoring Double Kitchen to DVD. :tired:

The last three episodes are a disappointment video-wise, compared to the first eight. :(

I have a series in DVD format which had no sound when played in standalone DVD player. There is sound when I used my PC, but the file would only play for half a minute before ending. Any idea on how to watch it with video and sound completely? Only way I can think of is to convert the files again, but then I don't want to degrade the video further, and it may not work anyway.

Do you know for sure that the DVD isn't corrupted somehow?

Does it work completely in any player or on any PC?

Where did you get the series from?
