Using DivX converter right now! I couldn't get the program to run on my PC, but it's running now on my laptop. 2% done...looks like it'll be an all night job. :victory:

A good tutorial for hardsubbing, but with 2 softwares

Thank you, Xploring! I've bookmarked this video. It seems really good - I like how they do it slowly, so you can follow it easily. :dancing:

Welcome. :) I learnt how to do it from that too.
You can actually download it once you install Veoh's web player.

Oh! Can you download any video from Veoh? (I'm guessing you have to sign up first). And is is free?
I had no idea - I'm really not that familair with Veoh. :D

My DivX conversion. Grr. I left it at 28% last night, but this morning there was a message to say something had gone wrong and the program needed to close.

Anyway, this morning I'm going to make my boyfriend watch this video with me. :hehe:

Yeah, you can. There's HEAPS of stuff on there. All you need to do is sign up and download their client software (both free).

How fast is the PC/laptop that you're using?

The amount of time it takes to hardsub a one-hour drama is dependent on the performance of your PC/laptop.... In my case, it takes about an hour to hardsub one episode... I'd think dual/tri/quad core PCs would be even faster.

I've been using VEOH for over a year. Their quality is far superior to youtube. Here's a sample of me trying to dance at the Nisei Fest last August:

PC is not bad, but my laptop does everything slowly. However, for some reason DivX converter would do less on the PC. I tried DivX again tonight on my laptop. It said 100% conversion, but when it said it was trying to write a directory (or something), that's when the error message appeared telling me the program needed to close.

I actually can't think about this (conversion stuff) any more tonight, as I might end up in tears of frustration again.

Squeeee! What a great video, Ralph! I want to know who was filming!
And I see you have loads of videos on Veoh - I'm going to look at some more tomorrow. I wonder if there's more dancing? :D

Maybe you should try the Virtualdub/Vobsub approach. :)

My son was filming me.

That's the only video I dance in at the Nisei Festival. There are lots of other of my videos of dancing at the Bon Odori at the festival. I'm practicing like mad of that single dance for the festival in August when you will see a video of a much improved dancer. :victory:

That particular dance (one of many that are performed at the Bon Odori) is called the Tanko Bushi - The Coal Miner's Dance. It's really simple, why can't I get the ending steps... ? The actions are:
dig dig (to right)
dig dig (to left)
throw throw
sweat sweat
push push
clap
clap clap

Anyway to get back on topic, these are good examples of VEOH.

I think I'm going to leave thinking about this until the weekend, but this might be the way for me to go. :victory:

Your son has a steady hand. :D

I'd never heard of that dance before. It does sound pretty simple, so I'm sure you'll perfect it soon. :victory:

I did join Veoh last night, and I added you on there, if that's ok.
Going to check out some more of our videos soon. :)

I watched the first episode of a new Aussie crime series Underbelly 2 last week, but missed the 2nd ep. Then I found out that the channel that produced it has the episodes up for free download. Great, huh?

Well, no. The video files are encoded with a DRM "Codec" called "Hiro" that requires a Windows Media Player plugin, and they can't be converted to any other format, authored to DVD or anything, and can't even be watched without the WMP plugin :banghead:

Good luck with that.

You may be better off going the softsub route and converting to DVD.
