Well if you ran that compression on the dual core CPU, I doubt that you'll get much better results time wise...
Yeah, and I tried making it 400mb and it only shaved off about 9 minutes. I guess I'll just bear with it and hope that 20+ hours passes by fast. :beaten:
Unfortunately it seems that anything related to video is time/processor intensive. That's why I start my converting projects just before I go to bed :)
I authored the same file 4 times over the weekend, and only 1 appeared to work correctly (except I stuffed up the subs, so I had to redo it) when I put it back into the computer, the comp wouldn't recognise it as a DVD and my standalone video player/recorder didn't recognise it either. After the 4th attempt, I decided to try it in my other standalone DVD player - and it worked. And so did the other 3 :headscratch:

Did you verify all of your burns?
DVD drives and players are a finnicky bunch.
Anyway, I'm having problem with an .avi file. When I try to convert it to DVD, it says "There is no decodable video stream," so I'm unable to convert it. I wonder if there's a way around this problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you using ConvertX?
Have you tried another program to convert the .avi?

 I figure I got you peace and quiet from this thread for a while, which was your Xmas present. And I never made any resolutions about keeping out of this thread, so... :hehe:

Yup. Using ConvertX. I haven't really tried another program yet. First I suppose I'd have to convert them to an mpg file, right?
You could try looking at it with Video Inspector http://www.kcsoftwares.com/index.php?vtb It might be able to work out what's wrong with the file...
I tried installing it, but something happened and now I can't go online with my laptop (I'm online with my ancient desktop now). I have to check it out later because I'm too irritated right now. :grumble: I swear, I have the worse freaking luck with this kind of stuff. :banghead:

By the way, that program that you mentioned was the reason why I couldn't get online. Thankfully groink-sama helped me out and suggested me to uninstall the program and restart my laptop. As a warning to others, do not install that Video Inspector program on your computer if you want to go online. Weird that some simple program was able to do this.

Nah, that's ok. I know you had no ill intentions, so don't need to worry, AD. I also found out that my laptop still isn't quite working yet, so I have to do a system restore.
Hopefully I'll be able to author a drama, or at least edit something tonight. :fingerscrossed:
