Although I haven't used it, have you looked at Adode Encore DVD? I figure it has to have some more features considering they also make Premiere and After Effects.

Nope, haven't looked at that program... What are you using, D?

I was hoping to find something free... Anything with an Adobe tag comes with an Adobe price. :bleh:

To be honest, I rarely (read: almost never...actually never) convert the files to DVD. I keep them as Xvid/Divx.

That's what I figured.

Does that mean you watch all of your dramas on the PC or do you have a XviD/DivX-compatible standalone player?

I don't think the Panasonic plays XviD/DivX, ne? :headscratch:

The Panny doesn't. But my Philips and recently-bought LG upconverting DVD players do. :D

The 642?

Which LG player? Is it Region-hackable?

LDA-511. I don't think it's region hackable, but that's why I have the Philips. I should check the LG, shouldn't I?

You've had the 642 for a while, ne? Reliable?

My friend Gary (the Sekai no Chuushin/Tokyo Love Story guy) has been eyeing that model, but he noticed a lot of reliability issues on the Amazon site, so he's been hesitant.

I think I need a new one: that LiteOn is a POS... :grumble:

Hasn't caused me problems yet. :fingerscrossed:

I've read the problems as well. But so far, so good. *knocks on wood* Oh, this reminds me, I'll try to include his goodies in your shipment.

BMW

Save me a trip back into the bowels of this thread.

What lessons did we learn about LiteOn?

It's a piece of junk... No tech support, no firmware support.

My LiteOn has decided it will open and close the disc tray whenever IT feels like... I'd really like to beat the crap out of it and send it back to those fools.

Postage due.

Groovy. That saves me some time.

Thinking seriously about moving on from my Panisonic. Most finicky piece of **** I've ever come across.

You mean your Panny recorder?

Though it's not region hackable, I really like my Sony... I shouldn't have given it to my niece to use in the dorms... Shoulda gave her the LiteOn. :beaten:

Yup. The Panny recorder. Thing's a pain in the ass. I use it to watch movies and record TV I don't care about. That's about it.

My crappy old Zenith is still the workhorse I can't live without. Thing plays everything. I'm starting to think I could stick an pancake in it and get an iHop commercial.

If you wanna unload it, I think my friend Gary might be interested.

I am using zoom player with CCCP to play the file (tried VLC player: no picture just sound. dunno why)
what happen is, the episodes plays (Taiyou no Kisetsu eps 1,2, both .avi), however the video lags/plays slow the whole time.
Therefore, can you tell me what seems to be the problem: am i missing some filters/codecs, have to change the setting of CCCP or zoom player to fix the problem, anything will help!
thank you very much

How fast is your computer? Some of the new codecs out there're just cpu hogs.
