You can't add subtitles with NeroVision Express, so you'll have to hardsub your videos before you encode them with NVE.

Well Nero was easy to use.. it was my writers fault (cant write 16x)

question: what do you guys do with wasted DVDS?

Just like you, I throw them away. I don't see any purpose of keeping coasters and eating up some space in the shelf when you can put other useful (and working) stuff there.

oh i thought you could do something useful to it.. (aside from coasters)

does DVD-RW work on standalone DVD players?

Well, if it's re-writable then keep it. I haven't tried playing a dvd-rw on a standalone dvd player because I don't buy RWs, so I can't comment on that.

I use Virtualdub with subtitle filter, but that software is also good.

They should... I've tried them on my four-year old Sony and they work as well as on my Panasonic DVD recorder. :)

Whenever I use a new version of burning software and/or author a new DVD, I always burn to a DVD-RW first, just to make sure everything's okay... That way you won't waste a buncha DVD-Rs... ;)

I should start doing that. Sometimes my writer goes crazy.. well a lot of times.

Maybe you should think about getting a new writer... What brand do you have now?

I've read that the Pioneers and NECs are the most reliable.

MAJICSPIN
only had it for a few months and already writing at 16X doesn't work. I doubt it'll last me a year.

Try burning at 8X... Haven't heard much positive about 16X burns... Or DL media.

i do.. but everytime i set it at 8x.. the log says it was writing at 16x. I don't know. So I use Control Drive (comes w/ nero) and so far its working swell.. even if the log still says its burning at 16x (weird).
Is there a way to automatically set it to 8x?
