Go to the official website of the manufacturer of your writer, I'm sure you'll see the firmware in the software section of that website. ;)

There is a firmware!
COOL. I'll read more into it tomorrow. THANKS

I hope that is good enough to solve your problem. :fingerscrossed:

Hmmm......I've read an issue a few months ago about rebadging of some BTC products to magicspin. My guess is that the firmware for the model of your writer can be found in BTC's website.
Anyway, if you are really having trouble finding the exact firmware for your writer then you might wanna check out this website and download the liveupdate program http://www.drvupdate.com/
This liveupdate software can detect your current firmware and can download the latest firmware that is suitable for your drive.

I hesitated moving from 4X to 8X. There's no way I'll be making the move to 16X. Too risky getting misburns.

Saito_Hajime wrote:I don't think it is possible to hardsub a dvd-video file. However, you could insert the .srt file to the dvd-video file using dvd authoring softwares like dvdauthorgui (but first you'll have to convert the files to mpeg-2 before using this software). That way you can turn on or turn off the subtitles when you watch it in your dvd player.

Yeah, you can't intergrate a srt/ssa/etc. file into an existing DVD-video formatted disc... The disc structure and format is completely different.
Ralph, check videohelp.com and search their forums... I think you'll have to rip the DVD's contents and extract the MPEG2 file before you can do anything. Then you should be able to merge the srt with the MPEG2 using one (or more) of the tools available at the videohelp.com site...
ralphm1999 wrote:I was afraid you'd say that. I've done that before. But I didn't want to have to climb the mountain again. I d/l something called Media Subtitler and since in it, it shows how the subtitles look in combination with the DVD, why not have an output also :banghead: :banghead: once having gone to the trouble of combining them in the video display. :grumble:
Will look at videohelp.com thanks.
