was going to ask you since you from that area,

wanted to go to Asahiya in Torrance, what are the two major cross streets? from the 405 going northbound from OC. I wanted to check out that bookstore, is it any good?

The two major cross streets are Carson and Western... You'll probably want to take the Western Ave. exit off the 405 North, then head south on Western... The bookstore in inside the Mitsuwa Marketplace.

Asahiya is okay, but I think the Kinokuniya is larger.

Suntory makes a lot of products, not just the tea, so in hawaii you guys have a lot of that good stuff eh? lots of japanese and japanese products, i remember last year in Oahu, on my last trip, there were all these japanese people, and a few cute j-girls, almost felt like japan, sorta of. :bonk:

pretty good, just wished it came in a larger can.

Hey my cousin is here for the Summer, haha we have so much in Common, she asked me tonight if i'm still planing for my trip to Japan, afaik it's still on.

I going to watch Lost in translation tomorrow as she has not seen it before.. YeA I get to see the nudie bar again!

Man I so can't wait to go to the Neo bar it looks so chilled out :P

She wants to do a Hotel+Airfare package type deal, which is cool with me :)

She asked would I mind living there.. you know my Anwser, i'd do it!

Still on for 7 days, I've gotta find out about these JR rail passes, I have to find out from a few more hotels if the rates change durning the months.

LOL she (cousin) is the only outsider from my mom that I spoke about my Food Mart that I go to I try and keep it low key :)

I just can't get over how nice that hotel is...

lol like half my pictures would be of the hotel it's self lol.

Anyone know where in Japan can I get a good night shot of the skyline of Tokyo? I need room to set up my tripod for it.

Lost in Translation eh? heh, I have heard from others that saw it, said it was kinda slow, but for what is worth, it was good, the scenery and stuff was all Japan..! Yeah that nudie bar part, actually is a dept. store, watch the behind the scenes and you will find out.
make it suntory time

living in japan, that'll be an opportunity and something i am planning on doing hopefully soon. I would love to live in Japan, i just love everything about Japan, esp. the hot j-girls. :naughty:

a high place, where you can place your tripod.......hmmmm
the first trip, i went to a place in Shinjuku, think it was in the downtown area, toko metropolitan govt. building, look in your "Lonely Planet" book on Tokyo, it is in there, you can basically go up 40 something levels, and they have an observation floor there and all these other tourists are up there viewing all of tokyo, i took some pix, but i didn't have a nice camera like you have, so check it out. Some nice views of Tokyo!, also try the Tokyo Tower in Roppongi, didn't get a chance to go both times, but saw it and it is said to be taller than the actual effle (spelling?!) tower in Paris. good luck.

I thought about Tokyo Tower but is it narrow like most observation towers?

I don't think they would allow me to bring a tripod up with me?

lol I just hope my cousin brings up her part...

I think a tripod would be no problem. The elevator and observation decks seemed plenty spacious. I went at nigt and got some nice city shots. Theres is also an aquarium, wax museum, 3D art gallery, optical illusion photo walk, and plenty of souvenier shops there. Here are a couple I took:

:applaud: :applaud: very good, very good indeed.

Tokyo by night. Mmmm... it has a certain charm, the atmosphere. Though I admit I like it more in winter than summer (I hate summers, it's too hot, anywhere). Though... a rainy summer night in Tokyo, I can't really think of many things that are more romantic... *sigh* I miss it.

:banghead: Anyway, back to counting the minutes till vacation....

Thanks. I have only been in Japan once and that was during summer. I'm not sure when I'm going back, but it would be nice to see it in winter.

What I would love to do is visiting Niigata prefecture in winter (I heard they have some four meters snow and what not) and then visit an onsen with an outside tub there... I've only seen images and film footage of such things by now, but wow... breathtaking atmosphere.

Just curious, anyone here have been to Hokkaido? If so, I'd like to know some of the hot spots for fun and to eat. If I went there without any recommendations, I would probably lose half of whatever vacation I have researching for great places to go.

when did you go visit japan last? you should post some of your high quality photos from your trip on here, i am sure others would like it as well. What areas did you visit in Japan and for how long?

I am thinking of posting and journaling my last trip i took from last month in Japan. :bonk:

Aho,
you are closer than most of us to Japan, probably half the flight time there. I didn't get a chance to go to Hokkaido yet. Mainly stayed in Kanto region, but last trip did take the shinkasen to Kyoto, and will do it again next time. I would love to move to japan and get a chance to visit all areas of japan. Hokkaido would be one destination for me.
Sapporo is a big city there, i was reading somewhere that it is a 10 hr train ride to Sapporo area from Tokyo, probably by shinkasen. I think a tour would be good, but the both times i went to Tokyo, i did the self guided and read from tourbook thing, getting lost at the stations was a bit frustrating, but thanks to a little japanese, phrasebook, and very kind people of japan, i usually found my way around. Good luck in your research, when do you plan on going to Hokkaido, Japan?

Nice job!

So good thing thats not going to be a problem.. I only ask because I don't want to get yelled at, and I don't want anyone to trip... and I don't want anyone to make my camera tip over.

God knows The lenses are not cheap!

lol I've got people that want me to get a 70-200mm VR... $1,500

you must have some really nice pix, two whole weeks in Tokyo!, what areas did you visit while there? Asakusa Sensoji Temple? Imperial Palace in Tokyo?, Shinjuku downtown? Roppongi area? Shinagawa? Other areas in Japan? post some pix from your trip from last June. I can remember vividly riding on the Yamanote line so often and riding in the train. :bonk:

My recent last trip was late May '05, and my first trip was June/July '03, sure was humid that time though.
