doesn't seem all that special. Would rather go to the one in Chiba, Japan.

Last time I went to Disneyland was when I was small.. and I think it was 1989 or 1990..

On my trip I visited Akasaka, Roppongi, Tokyo Tower, Asakusa Sensoji Temple, Harajuku, Meiji shrine, Yoyogi Park, Mitaka-shu, Shibuya, Shijuku, Ueno Park, Ginza, Yokoami, Odaiba, Tsukiji Fish Market, Hama-rikyu Gardens. It was during the rainy season, but it only rained twice. It ended up being hot. I used a Sony cybershot Digital camera for my pics.

wow, lots of places, i also had a Sony Cybershot digicam on both my trips to japan. On my most recent trip, i took video with my digicam, the quality wasn't that great, but it brings back memories of the trip more than a pix can. But next time i want to take a regular video camcorder and invest in a decent to good one.

Let's see, i've been to Harajuku, Asakusa Sensoji Temple, Roppongi Hard Rock Cafe, Tokyo Imperial Palace, Shibuya, Shijuku, Ginza, Tsukuji Fish Market, Nakano, Akihabara, and Shinagawa. Not to mention, I staying over night in Narita, and Kyoto.

subaru,
man....you just have to either ask one of your friends, or go by yourself. If i wanted to go, and no one else could go, i would do it alone, and get a 14 or 21 day pass, and travel around japan via JR-train or Shinkasen, no one to hold you back, and you can journalize and take tons of pix and meet some nice j-girls long the way. :hehe:

what do you want to know about the japan experience i had? My recent trip to Tokyo and Kyoto? about 500 plus pix worth for a one week visit. I've been there twice to Japan and enjoyed every minute of it!

expect to pay about $200 plus additional to the fare charge, it is peak season, but for Japan, if you must go, it will be worth it.

yeah go with a good friend, if you can't and really want to go, then do it alone, i would. But i think esp. since it is your first trip there, go with someone first. Next time, you may or could go alone if you want. more flexibility and freedom.

so are you thinking of a two week trip to Japan? cool. I haven't personally got a chance to visit Yokohama, Saitama, Osaka, Kobe, Ikebukuro. Tokyo is just so big of a city. But i did get a chance to visit the main areas i wanted to see Shinjuku, Roppongi, Shibuya, Shinagawa. I even in my last trip rode on the Shinkasen to visit Kyoto. Rode thru Chiba on the Limo-bus via to Narita airport on the way out of Japan. I believe that is where tokyo-disneyland is.
Other nice 1 day excursions outside the Tokyo area are Nikko, maybe Nara, and Nagoya, you can probably take the Shinkasen to see nara and nagoya, but not sure how much the roundtrip train ride is, could be much Yen....I know Nikko is about an hr train ride north of Tokyo, probably could use the JR-Trains for that. I heard a roundtrip Shinkasen ride Tokyo-Kyoto roundtrip is around close to $200 something, better off getting the JR-Pass before you come out to Japan, i got my seven day JR-pass at the travel agency for $167, it saved me lots and unlimited travel on the JR-Trains, Shinkasen train for seven days i was there in japan.
:bonk:

Thanks for the advice on the JR pass.
Osaka and Kobe is nice. You should stay in Kansai on your next trip around! :D That's the only place I've been to, so now I'd like to expand my horizons...

@niko2x: Whale burger? I'm going to have to save up some balls for that. I did try shark meat however. Pretty good. Only thing is that it stinks while cooking it. Idk, doesn't smell like "regular" fish.

I guess we just have to do the extra fare charge, how is the weather?

I'm sure by night time it's not bad at night.

I haven't been to Osaka or Kobe yet, but next time, i would also like to visit Hiroshima(lots of history), Nara, Nagoya, Nikko, and other areas. Where is Kansai located? How did you like your last trip to japan? I have been to Hakone, Kyoto once and Tokyo twice. I cannot believe how big Tokyo is, 23 prefectures. :bonk:
I just remember doing a lot of working and trying to figure the trainstation and area maps and getting lost quite a bit, fortunately, i had my japanese phrasebook and everyone in japanese are helpful.

yeah, fly JAL, and you will like it. The flight attendants are helpful and pretty. The weather in Japan, if you are going in August, probably very warm and humid, check out the weather.com website for the weather in Japan. Also, read the travel tour books of Japan, they should give you more insight.

on Friday or Saturday night, could go here, and gamble your paycheck away, nahhhh, I don't think so...but the thought of the music and flashing lights in a Panchinko parlor sounds more fun in Japan than doing nothing at home...still would rather be visiting Japan again.
and stop by one of the great kiosks on the way to the train, could pick me up a snack, a drink and a manga with the current cute j-idol on the cover, if only i could understand the japanese characters... :victory:

and let's not forget the many many convenient vending machines in Japan, they must have millions of these, stop by and grab a drink for about 110 to 150 yen.

It's the western plains region which includes Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe. Since you went to Kyoto, you actually went to Kansai without knowing it. ;) And definitely visit Hiroshima the next time you go. It's very educational.

You meant wards (-ku). Prefectures are somewhat like states here in the US, and are ended with -ken, like Chiba-ken, or Hiroshima-ken. There are 47 prefectures in Japan.
