Mari (Ms. Ueno) won this event (I think it's the 400m sprint) but, due to a misunderstanding with a Korean competitor, ended up in a brawl.

In Ms. Ueno's agency profile her interests are listed as cooking and 'short distance field event', which I think means 'sprinting'. In the movie Ms. Ueno is right in her elements.

The day ended and the girls went to their team-mates' (boys) room for some socializing. A boy from the Korean athletics team turned up and asked to speak with Ikuko. This turned into a parody of the "Romeo & Juliet" balcony scene. The rest of the gang peeped from their windows while Iko struggled to converse with the Korean boy in a combination of Japanese, Korean, and very bad English.

Back home it's life as usual for the girls. They, in particular Iko, are looking forward to next year's game which will be held in their home ground, Shimonoseki.

It's life as usual in Shimonoseki. The girls, however, are trying to learn Korean - Ikuko wants to learn Korean to communicate with her Korean heart-throp, the others are doing it to support her.

Back on the home front, Mari (Ms. Ueno) has her heart set on a member of the Japanese atheletics team, who happens to go to the same school.

The girls have a sleep-over at Mari's (just my guess but Mari was bringing out drinks to everyone).

Mari's heart was broken - it seems her boy was either not interest in her, or not interested in a romantic relationship at all.

The big day has finally come - the Korean atheletics team has arrived. In the evening in a get-together dinner, the girls did a song-and-dance for their guests and compartriots.

The Korean boy reciprocated by sing a Japanese song (Nagori Yuki, last track in the OST). Because of political tensions between Japan and South Korea at the time, this is a big no-no. The boy was promptly dragged off the stage by his peers.

The atheletics meeting is coming to an end, and so Ikuko's relationship with her boy. Her friends watched them as they bid a tearful goodbye, and came round to console her.

[From here onwards the movie concentrated on Ikuko, so I didn't capture any more screens.]

The relationship between Japan and South Korea turned sour and the game was cancelled. In any case both Ikuko and the Korean boy was getting a lot of pressure from their families to stop communicating. In a final letter Ikuko told her lover that (as far as I can understand) she'll be strong, get married, and live a good life.

26 years later the middle-age Ikuko once again see the inter-city atheletics meeting takes place. What's more she got to meet her first love again... [The End]

Thank you everyone for bearing with me. I've tried to add a little colour to the screen caps by explaining about the movie. However this movie was not subbed, not even in Japanese, so I'm sure I've misinterpreted or missed out contents altogether.

This movie has a certain "Melody" (an English movie which the Japanese seemed to like a lot) flavour to it. I don't think it's a big commercial success but the contents and background suggested some kind of political message. For me, Ms. Ueno is featured in this movie and that's good enough.

Behold, fellow Ms. Ueno admirers. Here comes a new movie, and a new barrage of screen caps. The movie you are going to see soon is "Summer Time Machine Blues". First, a synopsis.

It's a hot summer day, 2005-Aug-19. Members of the Sci-Fi Club were playing baseball outside their club house while a member of the Camera Club takes their pictures.

Back in the club house an accident happened and the remote control of the air-conditioner was toasted. They try to seek help from their club tutor but basically everyone's on edge because of the heat.

All of a sudden they noticed a weird contraption at the back of the club house. By accident they found out it's a time machine. After a bit of arguing they found a use for it - go back to yesterday and get hold of the remote control before it's ruined.

With a bunch of bumbling college guys and a time machine, it will be a miracle if nothing goes wrong - and miracles don't exist...

The movie was first released on 2005-09-03, and featured our beloved Ms. Ueno, Eita, the delectable Maki Youko, and others.

Now, please sit back and enjoy.
