That is a very strange looking haircut, isn't it?

A hairdo only his mother could love, at least until she stops shrieking and gets a better pair of glasses. What does he use, super glue to keep that hair up? Always found that strange, wonder if there is any story behind it, or the writer made the character that way simply to surprise viewers.

He looked like that even in the manga.

He's probably wearing a hat with hair on it: that guy doesn't look like that at all in Galileo... :)

Sounds like I really need to resume reading the manga

Oh yeah.. and strange in the anime too... Maybe we should just call it: Japanese people have very different perceptions of what a good haircut is... <nudge>... Eita...

He was one of Galileo's helpers... Short guy, long hair, glasses.

His real name is Ito Takahiro.

Hmm, something I noticed in the SP: Nodame refers to her mom as Yoko, rather than mom.......?

Odd. :headscratch:

Well.. sometimes people call their parents by their names.. My sister used to refer to my dad by his name sometimes.. and according to the jdorama entry, her mom's name is Youko... so not so strange :)

I always thought that was rude and disrespectful... Even more surprising considering how Japanese culture prides itself on courtesy and respect...

Well, if anyone is going to sift through the cultural subtlety in Nodame and figure out why... it's probably going to be you :) I don't remember the scene..

Maybe saying "my mom" is also awkward, so you when you introduce them, you use their name.. but it's true, she didn't call her Ms. Noda or something like that. Maybe because she wasn't in Japan she was trying to employ local customs (after her intense French study course ;-))

Is she saying it to Chiaki? If so, maybe she's showing intimacy with 'her husband' :dancing:

She is.

When I first heard Nodame refer to "Yoko," I didn't know who she was talking about... Then I realized it was her mom.

Ahh... perhaps this is why. Remember, Chiaki 'got to know' her mom at the end of the series (a favorite tailoring image comes to mind)
