Watched up to episode 4 or 5 of Konna Koi no Hanashi. I really miss watching dramas like this.

Konna Koi no Hanashi turned out to be a much better drama than I'd expected it to be. It bordered on the sort of melodrama that usually turns me off... but Hiro-san and that amazing supporting cast kept me glued to the series till the end.

Right now I'm still watching Yume no California and it's just getting better and better as it goes along.

This might be my favorite Yo Kimiko role -- she plays the lead's mother.

And it's nice to finally be able to put a face to Kudo Kankuro, the guy who wrote and directed Tiger & Dragon (among other things). He has a supporting role as the lead actor's brother.

Nanase Futatabi ep 5. The script is awful and acting is either wooden or hammy, but the plot, pacing and music make watching this worthwhile. A bit like a Japanese version of Heroes on about a tenth of the budget.

Shukan Maki Yoko up to episode 9. A real mixture, I tend to prefer the more serious episodes. 1, 2 and 7 have been the best so far. I have absolutely no idea what on earth was happening in the 8th episode.

Koukou Kyoushi 1993 ep 4. Just as amoral and shocking as the 2003 version. It has a very different feel from most modern dramas, I think it must be the lack of useless pretty boys getting in everyone's way and that the script assumes that the viewer is an adult with some intelligence.

I think I'll go finish the game now...

I would have thought "work". On topic: Finished ep 5 of Jikou Keisatsu 2 Doesn't seem to be quite as good as the original, seems like the guest star list is a bit weaker this time around, but I'm still enjoying it. Applaud
Edit: I see Naomi Nishida (Overtime, Pride) is coming up in ep 6, so my previous comment might be amended.

Watched ep 10 of Monster Parent...decided to delete eps 7 and 8 without watching...hoped the subbers synopsis of ep 8 would help carry the story line & it did, very well...

big cliffhanger at the end of ep 10...will finish this show tomorrow...

Damn, I was hoping someone would pick up the subbing of those 2 eps since Haruspex has apparently abandoned them Sad

*looks hopefully at marspeach and/or Kazuya_*

Are you crazy? The reason haruspex didn't do those in the first place is because they weren't captioned on that one site. Do you know how much I rely on those transcripts??? To have to do it all by ear... there'd be at least half of the lines blank.

Agreed. I've tried translating dramas with no scripts and it is very difficult. The only reason I was able to complete them was because of the help of others to fill in the lines I wasn't able to.

I'd like to help with Monster Parent but I never enjoyed that drama. I didn't make it past the first episode and thus I never downloaded the rest. Subbing a show that was hard to watch is not much fun.

Last Christmas episode 6.

I'm enjoying it so far. Not so much because of the plot, but because of the cast (nice performances and nice chemistry), the characters (genuinely likeable leads and mostly amusing side characters) and the dialogue (it practically sparkles).

Gomen nasai momo-chan (& Kazuya_). I was just being hopeful... I think it's awesome that you're doing what you do already. After just trying to turn Engrish subs into English, I can appreciate how hard it must be to sub a drama by ear Bow Bow Bow

No harm done. I'm just not good enough to do it, but if I could I would.

So would I. Sweat I'm using those transcripts with the Engrish subs I have for Top Sales, but they don't help me a lot Sad

I finished off Yume no California today.

It didn't finish as strong as I'd hoped. But still a very good drama. And top to bottom the cast was really at the top of their game.

Even though they played it kind of safe at the end... I still enjoyed every minute of it.

Tonight I'll finish off Ikebukuro West Gate Park. Meaning, I'll watch the Special. I finished the regular series episodes yesterday. It was a fun, stylish show.

I don't think either of these would find a place in my Top Ten All Time Favorites List (if I had such a thing) but I've really enjoyed both and I'm sad to see them end.
