Synopsis
After growing up in an orphanage, Mitsuru Ihara started working as a custodian at a large food producer. The pleasant, kind Ihara often visits his former home, pretending to be an important business man, not the blue-collar cleaner that he really is. But there's another, bigger secret: He is the reigning champion in an underground eating competition held at the company. In it, two contestants battle to see which can pack away more food within a time limit. The noble Ihara, with nine consecutive wins, always donates the money anonymously to his orphanage. The circumstances surrounding his victories, however, are often surprising and usually unusual.

1. Fabulous fabulous fabulous [Rating: 10/10]
A fresh storyline miles away from dramas that try painstakingly to portray students' troubles/ problems or map out a beautiful love story, this is one dorama that stands different with a new script and a fresh combination of actors. Deprived of childhood happiness and family love, Kusangai feasts on food to satisfy his insatiable appetite, while every competition symbolizes, also, a triumph not just on the battlefield of food but of love, kinship, morals and values. I admit it- I became a fan of Kusanagi right after the first three episodes- albeit not sublime acting, there's an unspeakable charisma that the skinny smap member exudes which is alluring. Though every episode can stand on its own, the linking factors; Kyoko as the love interest, Kimura as the adorably annoying crow, and the story behind the masterminds of the contest; all serve to unravel a semi-mystery about Kusanagi's past and post expectations for his future. Comments about its lack of realism are not unfounded but who cares?? There is a winning formula of novelty, wit, humour, tears, feelings, friendship, love and food in this show. It may sound terrible but there is a gout of sadistic pleasure to be derived from watching a skinny person devour all that food and then still claim, deadpan, that his stomach is as huge as the entire universe. A cannot-miss, even for those who insist that they are only addicted to sops like Love generation, beautiful life, etc!

2. Food fight is the funniest jdorama [Rating: 10/10]
In food fight the whole drama was based around this eating contest and this orphanage. every episode a the contest takes place with differnt people in the contest agianst him. The owner is going out of his way to make Mitsuru loose but his love for the children his what keeps him going basicly every episode is the same but the ending was something that i didnt expect. this is a very good drama to watch and I think that it is funny that they got some one like takuya kimura to play a crow. All and all this was a very good drama. This drama is a must see.

3. Stayed off food coz of Mitsuru! [Rating: 8/10]
It's one of those feel-good doramas that's predictable but still made me go awwww everytime Mitsuru pulls through and wins the eating contest. BUT he really put me off the food by the way he stuffed himself during the competition. I was full everytime I watched the dorama!

The only surprise was the crow. Being the typical baka that I am, I didn't realise that it was Takuya Kimura who voiced it til ages later after I've finished watching the whole dorama. He's good as the annoying but lovable crow.

4. Watch this with your gf! [Rating: 7/10]
This jdrama was very unique to me because to me it was a new concept, and the food that they used in the contests looked yummy. As for the drama quality itself I felt that when doing a drama about a food contests that this drama was put together pretty well with a central storyline which was pursued through the 11 episodes. The drama may become stagnant sometimes because of the similar structures of each episode, but it was still fun to watch regardless.

6. simply love it [Rating: 10/10]
i just can't love it more. although it has unrealistic bits and boring ways to end the competition (always win by one point), and stupid explanations even sometimes, the portrayal of characters and the depth of the show to read into the thoughts of the children, the competitors, Mitsuru, etc. are simply great! tsuyoshi and kyoko look really good together too! i love tsuyoshi's expressions, and i'm not bored watching the drama over and over and over.

7. Very Disappointed [Rating: 3/10]
I am a huge fan of food and Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, so I asummed this dorama would be perfect for me. The first few episodes weren't too bad but as I continued to watch on I felt myself becoming bored with the next new episode. All the episodes are the same with Kusanagi having a food challenge at the end of the episode and helping a kid out of a jam. Some of the stories are also pretty unrealistic. Very disappointed in this dorama!

8. A great drama [Rating: 9/10]
I want to give it a 9.5
but it only got 9. so......
i will suggest that u must watch this one even though u got business to do. i love the storyline and the ending of it.
It's really touching and it makes me cry too. However, i dun really get the love relationship between the male and female main characters, becoz it's kind of ambiguous. Dun understand why Ihara Mitsuru can hear the voice of Fukada Kyoko, who is way out there.

9. Touching and Fun [Rating: 9/10]
The "Food Fight" was an interesting topic for the show to revolve around. The occidental janitor lovers, challengers, and main characters made for a wonderful blend of sincerity and humor all done in very good natured taste. Watch this with your friends, family, or by yourself as it can be viewed in many different flavors.

The only attraction of this dorama is the THEME SONG. Other than that, none of the story interest me. Kinda expected ending for every episodes. You will definitely knows who will win for every competition. Story plot kinda dull and lucky for the theme song, that makes me watching it till the end.

This is a rather weird J-Drama, and I wouldn't really recommend those who are on diet to watch this drama, as you'll be influenced to eat and eat until you popl. This J-Drama is rather a disappointment, its not the best, but not the worst. Its OK and average!

"My stomach is as large as the universe."

That single line is one of the funniest lines I have ever heard used in a drama or in any kind of show. The drama was surprising with an interesting storyline revolving around food eating competitions. Each episode features a new challenger for Kusanagi Tsuyoshi's character. One of the highlights of each episode was the fact that often the contestants were pretty well-known JDrama actresses or actors like Ishida Issei or Koyuki's boyfriend in Kimi wa Petto.

As the drama progresses, the challengers become harder and harder to beat, although this is so the ending is always predictable. I really enjoyed Kusanagi Tsuyoshi's acting - light-hearted, comedic, heartwarming, and a little perverted. Fukada Kyoko does a decent job as Manami who takes care of the little kids. But by far one of my favorite characters in this show was the crow (Kimura Takuya's voice). He was hilarious.

This series is entertaining to watch off and on, but sometimes the gorging of the food can be a little too much. Also the ending of the drama is just too abrupt and does not follow with the mood of the entire series. (Although this series did oddly have some really dark scenes in it) This series kind of reminded me of "Engine" since it revolved a lot around the kids.

Food Fight is a great show. It was really the first dorama i watched and was the show that basically got me into more mainstream Japanese television. It's about an orphan all grown up that gives back to his old home by being the Food Fight champion. the "Fights" (actually eating contests) are held in the basement of the company where he works as a janitor. The orphanage only knows the man as Matsura the janitor that comes by to visit every now and then. But he is actually the "anonyomous donor" that gives a majority of his earnings from winning the eating contests. The relationship between Matsura and the orphans is very touching and the love/hate relationship between Matsura and a young lady working at the orphange (played by Fukada Kyoko) is added for comedic impact. She "admires" the anonymous donor, not knowing that it is actually Matsura, the man that annoys her endlessly. A fun drama with an action-packed premise. Highly recommended.

a story abt a man who enters a food competition in order to support an orphanage..quite cool coz it has a lot of famous actors appearing like Sachiko Sakurai,Ishida Issei, Yokoyama Yu, Miyazawa Rie..also, Kusanagi is very funny as a sukebe cleaner and Fukakyon looks bewitchingly pretty..i can't stop laughing at the part when Kusanagi character's realiza that his pet bird was not a crow(duh! who ever heard of a talking crow?)

i like to see tsuyoshi eats, coz he still looks proper even with a stuffed face...and also when he's at the foster home, i love the atmosphere...shocked to find out that his pet bird actually uses takuya kimura's voice...hehe...anyway, i find the ending a bit depressing and i also did not like the weird characters that competes with tsuyoshi in those food fights...

Hmz... what should I say. The way the show was filmed is very common, in a way, the episodes are a event of its own, and in another way, the episodes are all linked with a story behind them. so... it's kinda like u'll keep guessing what will happen in the next episode, whether the two lead characters are gonna do anything, and what will the event be.
6. Comments by takuyee [Rating: 8/10]
It is a hilarious drama and touching one too. Tsuyoshi and Kutaro are a good pair. Even though it's a crow, they have chemistry between them. And a very good depiction of the innermost feelings of orphans. The children actors also did very well. Not too superficial either. There are times when you feel touched inside.

While in all good intentions I truly wanted to finish this, I failed tro see the point in getting to the end, even though I've heard so many things about he ending. Good up until a point. Notable appearance by Yokohama Yu (Johnny's Junior/Kanjani8). Other than that, just gets so repetitive it gets irritating.. ^^;
8. Comments by kaonashi [Rating: 3/10]
A repetitive drama about all-you-can-eat challenges. Shallow plot & although it's a comedy it's not even funny. And I strongly dislike Kusanagi as an actor, he's just so lame. Well, if you wanna see a comedy about challenges, watch the magnificent "Shota no sushi" or at least "Golden bowl" instead.

quite .. different from the other dramas ive watched. didnt really like the crow's part in the story, and the plots for all episodes started to get familiar.. thankfully the extremely kawaii fukada kyoko helped lifting this drama. worth to be watched, if not only to see her and her great acting.

A very unusually story/topic about some underground food eating contest! How many some can eating before they pass out!! The story line is simple and flat. The romance between the main actors never get developed. Even with popular stars, I'm not that impressed.
14. Comments by yume [Rating: 8/10]
I like this drama because of Kusanagi actually; Fukada Kyoko barely does anything worth being excited over. The storylines are usually mainly the same, but somehow they managed to make it funny and cute because of the struggles of the children Kusanagi helps.

Each episode is a story on its own about Mitsuru trying to win that prize money for the orphanage he grew up in. Some stories are touching, others amusing and the rest plain unrealistic. An interesting note: Kimura Takuya was the voice of the crow Kyutaro.

Finished watching a few episodes and it's very entertaining. Very humorous drama. I'll be sure to finish the rest but it's not one of those dramas that you 'have' to see consequtively and immediately. More laid-back than most other dramas I've seen

The stories about the kids were okay although somewhat predictable, the rest TOTALLY unbelievable!! A talking crow! A guy with two stomachs! And Kusanagi eating all that food and not gaining an ounce!! Did anybody really believe any of that?!!?

manga-like show about underground food fights where people compete for money, this show has one of the most original stories I've seen around. Kusanagi shows the dark side of him, making him the true king of food fight!

silly drama...nonsensical...just eat n eat n eat every episode...OMG, they even moved to HongKong to stuff their mouth with 'xiao long bao'...omG!! but it made me pukey everytime he makes those puking gestures...urgh~

Even though every episode is repetitive where the main cast always strife against others in a eating competition, I like the way they relate stories that is inserted into every episode of the whole competition theme.

Repetitive, but the love story between kyoko and that SMAP guy is good... luckily there's the special episode to tie up some loose strings, 'cos the ending for the series was really... lamely unfinished~!

This one will keep you hooked, simply because it's so uplifting. A great drama because of that reason, but it's not very good compared to the likes of Long Vacation, Orange Days, etc.

Tsuyoshi was so thin, how could he win all the food fights competitions ? It's hard to believe. Anyway, it's just a dorama. I enjoy Tsuyoshi's cuteness. Light and sweet.

FOOD!!! Food dramas are great! Unfortunately most food dramas don't have a very great plot and this one didn't either. It was entertaining but a bit predictable.
