I hope the French team will lose quickly ( sorry for my French people ) because they ( the players ) are much too pretentious ! :grumble:
but I think that Brazil has good chances to win this time again !
hey lol french are maybe pretentious... but still... aren't you french? ^^
viva Japan! (i really would like them to be one of those 2teams qualifed for the pursuit...)
Hmm I'm not sure about pretentious, but players like Viera, Zidane and Henry I can hardly be negative about: all top players without big egos. (what I really don't understand is why the manager left Pires and Guily home :beatyou:
South Korea just beat Togo 2-1 :woot: can't say that the korean team is stronger than 4 years ago, in fact I think they look weaker. Who knows, but it will be hard for them to win against France and Switzerland.
I have no interest with football, but I like french team (in fact I liked french team of 1998-2000, now they are many players that I dont' know and many good players are gone )
My favorite player is Henry ! :victory:
About their chances to win, mmh I think not, the new team is not as good as before ! :bonk:
ugh, the France vs Switzerland match was horrible to watch. I blame the manager: playing 4-5-1 is asking for trouble. their fieldplay looked hopeless.
Henry was all alone up front. The french were lucky that they didn't lose, the Swiss were really close scoring a few times.
Team USA will play saturday. I got a feeling they'll lose
Though if they win.....i'm not sure whether to be happy or feel pity for them

it would be miraculous if they won....it would be the story of the World Cup thus far, I gurantee you.
well they are heavy underdogs...and given their first game loss to the Czech Republic...if the US doesn't win this game that means they will not advance to the second round of the World Cup tournament.

The French looked weak. They haven't scored any goals in the past games right? Henry clearly needed help. I can't understand why they have to rely on Henry alone to get the goal :shakehead:
Too bad Cisse is injured & Pires not included is a mystery :shakehead:
Fortunately they have really good defense players. (I don't know their names tho') They were relentless keeping the goal safe from the attacking swiss. Nice footwork & clearence :applaud:
btw...
Team Korea now is not as strong as in 2002 but i'm glad they won  thank god for Ahn Jung Hwan (:smitten:)
but Togo is jinx ... they played well tho'.
Now you mention, the last time they scored (during a worldcup) was in the final '98. they went out the first round in Japan-S.Korea in 2002 without scoring a goal.
but scoring goals isn't a problem when you have Henry (topscorer PL), Trezeguet (20+ goals in Serie A) :shakehead:

Brazil won 1-0 against Croatia, again I'm disappointed. Croatia deserved a tie. Oftenly Brazil wins due to individual class and today it was the same, Kaka was great. Ronaldo was not, he was moving around as if he just came out the "all you can eat" buffet. :hehe:
Goalkeepers can now have a lame excuse for letting an opponent score a goal :beaten:  :hehe:
Why Goalies Hate the New World Cup Soccer Ball

In the opening match of soccer's World Cup Friday, German midfielder Torsten Frings scored an amazing goal from 40 yards out. The ball started off straight and then tailed sharply to the right in the last 10 yards or so. It was an unstoppable shot, but with a different ball it might have been a simple save.
A scientist has explained why a new ball being used in this year's World Cup is frustrating goalies.
The new Adidas Teamgeist football, as it is called, has 14 panels instead of the 26 or 32 that traditionally create the hexagonal pattern.
Fewer panels means fewer seams, which will make the ball behave more like a baseball, says Ken Bray, a sports scientist at the University of Bath in the UK.
Complex whirls of air cause a spinning ball to drift toward the side that's spinning away from the ball's direction of movement. A ball that's not spinning can bounce around unpredictably. Pitchers rely on this physics when throwing knuckleballs.
A good knuckleball is crazy because the ball rotates lazily in the air and the seams disrupt the air flow around the ball at certain points on the surface, Bray said.
"With a very low spin rate, which occasionally happens in football, the panel pattern can have a big influence on the trajectory of the ball and make it more unpredictable for a goalkeeper," Bray said last week.
Bray suggests one way to watch for the effect on TV.
"Watch the slow motion replays to spot the rare occasions where the ball produces little or no rotation and where goalkeepers will frantically attempt to keep up with the ballfs chaotic flight path," he said.
I'm just happy Skorea won, even though they're not on top of the game as last time.
What happened to Ronaldo? He was almost nonexistent in the game.
And that idiot fan who ran out on the field, wth was he thinking. It doesn't say much about security though ^^;
"a good calligrapher shouldn't blame the brush." so a good soccer player shouldn't blame the ball.
sigh japan should never have lost that game. i was extremely disappointed, esp when i was watching it with a whole group of japanese. i hate to say this but japan's chances of advancing are slim. i just hope that they can beat croatia in the next game!
the spain v ukraine could have been more exciting if not for the wrong judgement of the referee to send the ukrainian defender off. wad a bad bad mistake that spoilt the whole game.

the rumor is that ronaldo ate at an all you can eat brazillian bbq during halftime that's why he came out last.
