It's kind of like that. It can apply to both men and women though. Flirting is talking to or approaching someone in a way that would make them think you're interested in them romantically or sexually. The media says that Goro plays around with women too much.

i don't really know the answer to that question. i would like to say all of them are indispensible because over the years they just molded into one being called smap and you can't really take them apart without having a feeling of something missing.

HOWEVER, to be honest, earlier in my fandom, well not too early, maybe five months ago, when i was at my peak of goro love (which has now switched to nakai love but i still love goro also) i had to sit back and think, "my goodness, goro's not that popular is he" i mean tsuyoshi has his kind and gentle angle, also, he is quite playful on variety shows like pussuma and waratte ii tomo. the ladies just love him because he seems so nice. shingo is the funny, young, and talented one. nakai is just the great leader and host and comedian. kimura is just plain old sexy and will attract anybody. he's probably the envy of every Japanese man. so where does goro come in? oh it was such a sad moment when i thought, without smap goro probably wouldn't be doing as much. he has many good points but it just seems like kimura is just a bit better than him at it. that's seriously what i thought.

BUT THEN!! as time went by i started to realize that i was wrong. yes kimura is sexier, better at singing and acting, and the women would choose him over goro. however, goro has his own strong points. they're subtle but they're there. he's a gentleman and understanding and quite dandy also. he's also very smart and kind to people and wouldn't mind embarassing himself to make people laugh. sometimes he gets very annoying and seems like he's trying too hard with the princely image but it's cute. the smap members also need him ne. besides being the target of their teasing/bullying, he's also a very supportive member. i think he lets the members get away with more than tsuyoshi does actually. only he will smile and laugh it off when the members tease him. he really balances the group out. i think, in some weird way, all those different personalities mixed together is just the perfect combination where they can last long together and still care about each other.

so yeah, i can't really think of an answer to who is indispensable. because that would mean the other members would be dispensable and i don't think that's possible. i think if you took out one of the members, people will just be constantly asking "where's so and so. bring him back. etc." even if it were their least favorite member, i think they would think that it wasn't really smap without that member.

oh and i actually don't think kimura is the most popular smap member in japan. given he is IMMENSELY popular, i actually think that nakai is more popular than him. and that's not just because nakai is my favorite. kimura is probably more well known to people outside of japan because of his dramas. they are more available to watch than say nakai's variety shows. however, nakai is just EVERYWHERE on tv. i also think that he's found a niche among all members of the family, the grandma, the grandchild and also the child. he's got a very wide appeal and is very charismatic. he basically knows what pleases the people. also, he doesn't have that jealousy factor like kimura. what i mean is, while there are people that envy kimura, i think there are more people that are jealous of him, therefore dislike him. also, kimura doesn't make that many tv appearances. aside from smapxsmap and going on other shows with smap, he doesn't really do much tv. that is excluding the times he promotes his dramas/movies. there's a "cold" sense from him when he's not around smap members. yes he's sexy and very attractive and talented but that can only go so far i think. nakai is just a very talkative man and will talk to probably ANYBODY. i think that's very appealing to people.

Well, my short answer is surprisingly different with Nagisa, Rina. Haha...my short answer is: Yes, it's true. Goro is a very flirty guy.


And this is my LONG answer:
If you ask me. I'll answer this honestly, I think it is true that Goro is a playboy, a womanizer, flirts with many women.

But in my opinion, there's a reason behind this. Around 1993-1995, Goro dated Hosho Mai, a beautiful actress. You can see her photo here: http://jdorama.com/artiste.289.htm

Goro fell in love and was serious about her. But later, she got tuberculosis disease. Goro accompanied her in the hospital day and night, whenever he has no job schedule, thus he cannot rest at all and sleep-deprived.

Later, Hosho-san recover bit by bit, her healthy condition is getting back. Goro was very happy about this. However...when everything seems going back to the way it used to be....she initiated a breakup. She feels that all the times they're together, she can only give Goro trouble. She do not want to trouble him anymore. She insist Goro would be better and will have his freedom, if he is not with her.

Being painfully and incredibly heart-broken once, I assume this is what have triggered Goro to be a "player". As a SMAP member/Johnnys' boy, he knows he is not allowed to get married. So, what is the point of getting involved seriously with a woman? So, he tried his best never to fall in love with a woman, and just "play" around with them.
Apparently, Goro is good at this. He has the tendency to "click" with women's conversations. And so, he's always in a good close term with his co-star actresses and other female friends.

Kimura told this story: "Sugoi yo kono hito!(this person is unbelivable!) He can just 'click' like that with women he just know. There was this wedding reception party of the SxS makeup staff, we (smap members) were all invited. Usually in a party, we tend to walk around in a group, and eat together in one table (haha! inseparable smap!). While we were chatting, one of us noticed, "Are'....Goro-chan wa?". We look around, and there he is! Chatting with a group of beautiful ladies!! Sugoi yo!"

In Utaban 2000, when they were talking abt Beautiful Life, Kimura told them that Tokiwa Takako has been asking him whether Goro is genki or not...coz they used to call each other once or twice a year, ever since they filmed CM together! Then Nakai asked, "hmm...I wonder, Tokiwa-san didnt ask anything about me? "Nakai-san genki?" toka....no?". Kimura replied, "nope.". Nakai said, "Chotto!!! I filmed a drama with her for 3 months!! You(Goro) only shot a CM with her!". LOL!

Even when Goro fell in love seriously for the 2nd time. That is...with Kanno Miho... He still cannot erase his "player" traits. Goro and Miho has the LONGEST ON and OFF relationship history since 1999. They went back and forth, back and forth, because of this. There were MANY, MANY articles flew around about Goro's unfaithful doing and how Miho decided to end their relationship for good, over and over. But then there were also articles reporting how Goro apologized to Miho over and over, too...and this was based on one of Goro's closest friend's testimony.

(Actually, when it comes to Goro and Miho. There were always BAD rumours about both. Not only Goro reported did the bad thing, but Miho got the bad reports too^^ Some reporters said, Miho only dates men with good reputation in the entertainment world so it'll boost up her popularity too, etc, etc.)

Goro IS the playboy type...he is a womanizer. SMAP members often tells stories that proven this. Shingo once yelled at him, "Oyy! Kono PLAYBOY!". On valentines day, Kimura hinted that Goro must gotten so many chocolates to return.

HOWEVER.... Okay, I dont know how to prove this realistically, but one thing I'm sure of...that Goro is NOT A JERK. He is NOT a bad guy. Or else, SMAP members wouldn't befriend him sincerely. I'm sure he is a loyal and good friend. And if Kanno Miho stay with him, up to now....then, believe me...he is a good person, in some other ways.

In the end of 2004, in SxS ending talk, SMAP members were asked to draw their favorite female hairstyle. Then, they drew it on the cardboard. My smappy friend, captured their drawings, and showed it to her friend, 40+ years old experienced female psychologist and tell her, "These are drawings of 5 guys, can you analyze what kind of personalities they have from these lines and curves?". The psychologist DOESN'T KNOW who is SMAP at all, have never heard of "SMAP", that can be assured, since SMAP is SO not popular here in Indonesia.

But, it was scary! Her analysis is 90% correct, as how I observed SMAP all these 3 years xD There are even some qualities I dont know of, but it does make sense, if its true^^ She analyzed their general traits, then my friend asked, what kind of husband/boyfriend are/will they be?

This is her analysis of Goro (from Goro's drawing^^):
If this guy have good looks, handsome...then, I guess, my prediction is true, that he's a charming and interesting man. AND...playboy. Having him as a boyfriend/husband, is just like adopting the first child and just get ready to become his "mother" for the rest of your life. It would be very tiring and stressful to be his girlfriend/wife, coz besides the fact you have to "take care" of him, you have to balance his perfect/dandy style. He is the type that one hair has to be at its place, no wrinkles on his outfit, and no dust on his shoes. As a husband, someone who cannot stand to see his house looks messy or kids running around.
Even if his "player" traits will be difficult to erase though, if someone already holds the "key", he wont go anywhere, he will always return to his "mother" ^_^_^_^

Since Goro has been together with Miho for so long and with their back and forth relationship too. I'm guessing Miho has already hold his "key"! lol!

yes, i also believe goro is very flirty. the members are always talking about it. however, isn't it funny that he seems like he's so unpopular with the girls on tv yet the members keep on talking about how great he is with talking to women. hehe, maybe the famous girls are just being safe?

i don't think goro is a bad person though. how should i say this, i think that every man will wander at least once in his life. and for goro, i think because it's so easy for him to get to know women that he just gets caught up sometimes. and you know, he was single, charming, and young so i guess he was just trying to experience life. i don't think he ever intentionally cheated. does that make sense? what i mean is, i don't think he ever went out thinking "oh tonight i'm going to find a woman to sleep with and cheat on my girlfriend" i also think that mai hosho break up may have changed his aspect on his love life. but i really do think that he's ready to settle down now and is happy with miho kanno.

no i don't think you're in denial livnagisa. like i said earlier, i don't think he's a horrible person. i don't think he sleeps with women to brag about it, etc. yeah i really do think that he's just a romantic and sorta gets caught up in things

ne i just thought of something! say that goro's future wife, i don't know if it's gonna be miho but i hope it is, says to him "goro, i can't live with your cats. you have to get rid of them" what do you think he will do? i mean this man LOVES his cats. he even said before that you don't need a woman if you have cats to accompany you.

That article which Miho sayz she wanna married at the age 35 is about 3 yrs ago, in 2004 if not mistaken.. She sayz she wanna go for a long travel b4 she get marry.. LOL.. So, Goro-chan,, take her where ever she wantz to go, then let her be ur wife asap... :hehe:

I know what you mean. I also think she's very very opinionated. But that's what Goro-chan likes, right? In Sanma & SMAP this year, Goro said the kind of woman he likes are those that have their own mind and can argue with him about anything. (Of course, Sanma, Nakai, and Kimura said they could never live with that.) He likes fierce girls.. lol.
