The Anti-M revolution, eh. I hear ya. Yet, I will eventually get it. I know Linux and Unix are awesome, but I've lived with Microsoft all my life-ever since we got our first computer in 97'. So I'm kinda attached now.

So I've decided to get my notebook during mid-spring, giving me enough time to see the roll out of Vista, and many different models. SO I've decided.

Ha ha. Well, I like to get an anti-M$ dig in once in a while. I can't believe people pay for that junk.
I realize Linux isn't for everyone, but I like it.

You'll need a powerful laptop to run Vista. IIRC, It'll need a video card with 256mb on it to run smoothly. :bleh:

That just plain sucks... :shakehead:

Upgrading to Vista is out of the question then, since my PC doesn't meet the requirements...

Fry's: Maxtor, 300GB, UDMA133, 16MB buffer, $80, no rebate.

Hmm. :headscratch:

I'd prefer a Seagate, but that's probably the best bang for the buck in today's ad: the 500GB Seagate is $190. :shakehead:

i've been looking at some Seagates, i prefer them as well, but i can't find a 133 bus speed, seems they're all ATA/100...:headscratch:

Is Seagate even producing those?

I've got a feeling that they've pulled the plug on the 133 stuff and moving more and more into the SATA world...

yeah... and when i got my controller card, i was debating a SATA and a ATA/133 .. i chose wrong it seems.

The price you pay for progress. :)

Damn it...I need a bigger hard drive as well, and it's not because of all the porn on my hard drive either. The nearest Fry's is in San Jose...is it worth the two hours drive for those prices, or will I be sucker punched by the gas price?

If it's distance prohibitive, can't you buy the thing online from Fry's sister company, Outpost.com?
