True, the price per GB is about the same... But can you trust the seller?

Up to you, girl...

That's 46 cents per GB.

The Fry's one computes to 54 cents per GB.

it just looks soooo lucrative.. it's going to get my other usb port though. is there a usb port extension in existence? my laptop only comes with 2 usb ports.. i think one is 2.0 and the other is the standard one.. then i also have firewire. i think the 2.0 is the only one left because the standard one has my wireless mouse....

You can alway buy an inexpensive USB hub.

I'd use the FireWire port. I think it's faster than USB.

I wouldn't go for the 500gb, if/when it dies you'll be crying  that's LOTS of data.

bigger isn't always better...and with hardware it's wise to buy from a "shop" so you can get RMA from them. if you buy from an ebayer you'd have to bug WD directly if something goes wrong and they can reject you without receipt.

Well, you still have to back up that bad boy.

A big, er, humongous HD doesn't mean you should stop backing up. :)
