Ugh, my disc 3 of The West Wing has a number of scratches on it which prevent my DVD player from playing the disc back... Any suggestions on how to fix this disc?
I've tried to read the disc on my PC and it has problems reading the disc as well.
I've tried toothpaste and car polish to remove the scratches, but no luck. :puppydog:

theres a scratch remover spindle-looking thing, i think Memorex makes it.. basically, it'll grind down the disc a little by little... that would be my last resort.

i think _I_ set myself up for that one.

Beem, if your're daring, you can try plastic polish.. you can get it at a auto parts place.

if you have a costco membership, they're having a sale on TDK 100 packs in a week or two.
otherwise, i usually buy Taiyo Yudens from supermediastore.com or Princo's from rima.com, but Princo's suck now so i dont buy them anymore.

Bah..... I need some blank DVD+R's too. But I want printable ones, since my printer can print on CD/DVD's. What's a good brand?

I've got it already. :)
Well, I tried the plastic polish, but no luck: about half of the disc is still unreadable by my PC.
Guess I'm hosed. :puppydog:

Taiyo Yuden White Hub-Printable DVD's are very reliable. rima.com has competitive pricing. For Grateful Dead archival, the show are burned to 2 DVD's. One TY DVD-R and one TY DVD+R.

You could try "SkipDoctor"

I had a few damaged disks that would get stuck on my DVD player or PC. Then I bought a "multi region code free" Toshiba DVD player, and that thing had no trouble reading the damaged disks.

Hmm, I think I can achieve the same effect with my orbital sander and a buffing pad.
