In my college there's a wireless connection at first i able to download at 200-300 kb/s, two months ago it dropped to around 80 kb/s.. and lately I only gets 5-6 kb/s.. The thing is, now when I start d/l the speed goes to around 80 then it drops gradually and ends in 5-6 kb/s..
In advance, Thanks for your answer :woot:

I've been going through the same problem! :shakehead: Only it happens at home. There is no way that I can think of right now, to tweak my ISP so that my speeds will improve. I'm actually considering switching my ISP for this very reason. There's no point in paying for it, when I can't download anything. No matter which Bittorrent I use...eg. utorrent, Azureus, my speeds still suck!

Well, your torrent download speed is also dependent on the number of seeds available too, ne?

Few seeds, little speed.

I've got the slowest DSL available (768Kbps or about 90KB/s) and when I downloaded two episodes of Kirakira Kenshui they hauled at around 40-50KB/s, 'cause there were a lot of seeders. :)

Yes...you are right. It depends on the number of seeds, and the number of peers you are connected to. I tried downloading a popular torrent, and managed to connect to 50+ seeds - a torrent that's around 1gb, while connected to this many peers, would usually take me about an hour. But not anymore. That's how I know there is a serious issue with my ISP. I tried this experiment with numerous torrents, but the same thing! :shakehead:

Unless you managed to get the root account password or have access to the proxy and firewall, probably not. That might get you kicked out of the school if you guess the passwords anyway. ;)

Don't update yet. There are no DX10 games yet and DX9 games on Vista runs slower than on XP. You'll need a DX10 card with shaders 4.0, if you want all the bells and whistles too. =T
10 Mar 2007, 14:16 #3346
Exactly, DX10 is just useless atm. THERE ARE NO DX10 games out right now, so why bother buying an overpriced DX10 supported vidcard that will be outdated by the time the DX10 games are finally released?

yeah I'm getting flashbacks now, to when I built a new rig AMD XP 2100+@ 2800+ (2800+ was CPU on the market) with a 9700pro (was the daddy of all vidcards at that time), to play Doom3 and Halflife2: when both games came out, year n half later (or too late I should say) my rig was heavily outdated :shakehead:

uprading for DX10, Vista = stay away from it or I'll :whipped:

I wouldn't be surprised if your college has some kinda software to keep students and faculty from hogging up bandwidth... I mean, you're supposed to being doing schoolwork, not downloading torrents. :beaten:

Yeah, but we could download torrent as we doing assigment.. :hehe: :beaten:

Yup thats correct, me myself has been on torrent bussiness for awhile.. and it really sucks when some site has developped ratio rules (the ratio between your upload and download is meazured, if your download its very high you would recieve time penalty downloaad..)

Yes Ifigured that out too, what I need is the root account password, btw Is there any password breaker application??(still persistent) :beaten:

Really?? Man that really sucks.. Btw I just checked vista requirement and price.. it turns out vista is around $120, and it take about 15 gb of hard disk..

15 Mar 2007, 09:45 #3351
What do you mean, "Making" soft subs? Actually creating the subs, or adding subs to a DVD?

That's why I pretty much gave up on torrents for dramas. I don't mind suffering for a few hours to d/l a one shot software event. But to d/l a whole drama series is pure torture on BT. It's much too capricious. I noticed too a while ago, BT although always slower than a straight download at least had reasonable speed... now it's like 10 kbs is the max... I've given up using it. That's why I appreciate people like Loosahead for uploading tons of dramas which I can straight download at speeds that DSL was made for without the maybe you will and maybe you wont get the whole drama after a couple of months on the BT fiasco trainwreck.

:bonk:
15 Mar 2007, 14:50 #3353
I only use BT for dramas when it's 'drama of the week', wait a few days so there's enough seeds and usually I start download before work, and when I come home they are all complete :woot:

you can also try that korean clubbox thingie, but I'm not a big fan of that either.

I get most of my doramas of the newsgroups. new and old.

I use it to hardsub all of my dramas and movies (like Nodame and Swing Girls)...

No probs Ralph. I'm always forgetting those sites myself :)

BTW, what do you guys recommend for a good, FREE FTP program for Win XP? SmartFTP was ok, but lately it doesn't start when you doubleclick it's icon. CoreFTP lite is too buggy, it crashes nearly every time you use it.

Problem: When I right click on my mouse to see the box with the cut, copy, paste info. in it, I am only able to see the ouline of the box not the words. If I scroll down the box then I can see the words one at a time almost as if I am highlighting them. This just started this evening. :puppydog:

Any suggestions? :)

(edited to say)Now this is wierd. The problem that I just mentioned above, had lasted for several hours, has now gone away.
