Thanks to dochira, it worked! I wish I noticed that I could select how many copies I wanted beforehand..

I'm trying the TDK discs again and they seem to work fine. It must've been a bit of bad luck for me to have 4-5 discs in a row screw up.

Maybe your burner is overworked... I think I've read stories about burners overheating and whatnot from overuse...

I think that's a big possibility because I'm currently doing trades with 3 people and using my ancient computer to do all the burning.

Lemme just borrow yours. ;)

And now I just had a couple more errors with the TDK discs and I just turned on the PC. :grumble: Back to the Verbatims again.

Uh, try cranking down your burn speed one notch: 8X to 6X or 6X to 4X....

I got my work comp back today after it died the last day before Christmas. It was totally re-built, so I now have to re-install all my progs, set it up for Japanese fonts etc :(

Good thing is, I got a bigger HD, double ram etc :)

the reason why you're getting the error is because two machines with the same IPadress connecting to your router. (say like your main pc is 192.168.0.1 and your PS3 has the same IP, you will get the error - but you still can go online) probably has nothing to do with strangers trying to mooch off your connection.

oh ok thanks for the info, i can stop worrying now =)

Man, it took a lot of messing around to get the resolution and monitor refresh rate right. It looked horrible until I did :)

No more CRTs for me: the fiasco-laden one I bought two years ago is starting to act up... :grumble:

Looks like I'm gonna be buying several new LCD-related products this year...

Once you go LCD, you won't go back. I don't know how I lived without my flatscreen computer monitor and my high-def TV. Besides having a better picture, it just takes up less space...which in the places I live, is important.

At the time, the LCDs didn't have the resolution that my CRT has (1600x1200)... Now they have ones with 1680x1050 resolution... :)

you can get a good flat screen with those specs, 22 inches in size, for less than 250 bucks now.

I've been toying with the idea of getting one...I currrently have a sony 19 inch LCD....it's been solid so I'm not sure....

my comp is older so it has an AGP slot and I lucked out at Fry's...I needed to get a new video card, because my old one crapped out...I was able to get a 512MB Nvidia card for only 70 bucks!

It really made a difference....before I couldn't watch divx files encoded in 1280 resolution because I didn't have the enough juice from my vid card...but with 512MB instead of 128MB....it's no problem now.

Just wait 'til you buy a 1080p HDTV... Then you'll need a card to drive 1920x1080...

But it'll look awesome.
