@qilver: At Fry's (NorCal) there is a a Visioneer Ontouch 9210 scanner for $39.99. It does 4800x2400 resolution. Check to see if they are offering it down there.

I don't see it in today's Fry's pullout ad.

Rats, it was worth a shot.

Edit: I checked the Orange County Register online. The scanner is there for that price. You should check it out Q. Link to Ad

Fry's is known for offering different items at different prices in different regions. But luckily some newspapers post their ads online, so I can check out the prices.

That's queer: I woulda thought that the Fry's ads were common in Orange County and L.A. :headscratch:

CompUSA sucks period..

so overpriced

Imho I shop at www.newegg.com

and Best Buy, I rather not talk about them.. Bestbuysucks.org tells it all.

Speaking of stuff.. I can't wait to take my Logitech Z-680's out of storage :D I just don't know how I'm going mount them... I have a vaulted roof and I'm moving my pc into the attic.
Still trying to figure out placement.

And the return policy blows chunks.

I agree. I've bought a couple of things from them and was impressed.

I've had no problems with them. Then again my only interaction is when I pay for the stuff. Like Fry's, as long as you don't have to ask questions, you'll be fine.

Oh I felt bad for the people in Best Buy.. I left when we had to offer them a offer to try one of those mags out.. I forget what it was.. but I remember hating to go into work walk around for 7 hours trying to beg someone to buy a Cd case as thats how they make money for the Media department I worked in.

i've spent so far $800 with newegg, and I've been impressed each time, I did mt first RMA not too long ago, and that went smooth.

Entertainment Weekly and Sports Illustrated.

So that's why they are hocking those mags. I just say "No thank you" and be on my merry way.

Yeah thats the one, I mean someone said it right on buybuysux.org..

"It's just like Spam when you walk in the door"

:shakehead:

I've seen people get pissed, this one lady went off on me once beacuse I was doing my job.. I asked her twice, I gave her 5 Min, and so I asked again because she did look like she was lost, and she just about blew up in my face.

Newegg and Fry's are usually my first choices... But you have to explicitly know what you want at Fry's, 'cause most of the workers there are total idiots.

9 out of 10 times it is, but that place is like an electronics geek's candy store: it's nearly impossible to walk out of there without buying something... Just like Home Depot is for do-it-yourself-ers.
