Yeah, I have a friend that said he's working Fry's on Black Friday. All I said to him was, "Uh, good luck with that..." :beaten:

My friends and I are planning to do a Black Friday camp out. We'll probably be there at 3AM in the morning. I'm in dire need of a new mid-range video card so here's to finding a good one for under $150. :hehe:

Man, it is almost that time of the year. When we get up earlier than we've ever gotten up, to wait out in the cold in a line longer than the one at a sporting event during intermission and after drinking the souvenir sized cup of soda, to buy the one item (250 GB drive for $29) that makes our computer complete.....ah it's the holidays. :hehe:

it's crazy on big sale days at Fry's, i usually pass on those, i know it is near impossible to get in, unless willing to camp out or get up extra early, i leave it to the computer experts/techies, although $29 for a 250gb sounds too good to be true... :hehe: but an amazing cheap price.

better hope it's not one of those shitty mail-in rebate deals.

I could not find a Fry's in IN, and none of the stores had what I wanted.

It almost always involves one or more mail-in-rebates. :bleh:

There is one in Indiana, Fishers. Here is a list of locations: http://www.frys.com/localframe.html

Hey D, my friend probably will need an external drive for his computer soon, as he only has less than 4gb left now, after d/l'ing some BT dramas. He has an older computer, forgot the processor speed, but it was slow, along with 18 gb harddrive....can you suggest some external harddrives, brand name/off-brand name, he needs an external drive a lot more than i do. He doesn't want to get an internal one and mess with it, just a simple one that is affordable. Like the you mentioned, but without any hassles, he is a newbie with BT and computers.

thanks. :bonk:

I can't remember which store had that Western Digital external drive. I'll look it up and post back here.

WD drives are POO!
i've had 2 fail in less than a year... and i have an old SCSI Seagate that's still running... 8 years now, moderate use.

That's totally personal, all the drives that failed on me were Maxtors. Even my quantum fireball and wd caviar of over 10years old are still working. :hehe:

Yeah, totally personal: I've had IBMs, Maxtors, WDs, and Quantums, and the only one to go south was my Seagate.

Thankfully I backed up regularly.

The drive sale is at Best Buy...

Seagate 120GB internal HD, $29.99 after $70 MIR (mail in rebate)
WD 160GB external HD, $99.99 after $60 MIR

I HATE mail-in rebates. :grumble:

WD external sounds nice, will bring it up with my friend for his computer. I had my eye on some seagate external hd's, but they weren't on sale, but i am going to wait.

yeah "B", i don't like to deal with rebates, i'd say they usually mail in your money for the rebate, but there is always that chance they won't for some odd reason. just an extra hassle what you have to put up with and pay upfront. nice to save money as always. :hehe:

so....all you computer techies, how big are you computer hd's, and external hd's, total included?
so far i am with the standard 160g, that came with my computer, but of course thinking of adding an external one, maybe 160-250 more. :woot:

of course, i prefer the instant gift rebates they take off at the register, no hassles with mail-in ones.

:hehe:
