You, I, and many others included. Stupid process I tell you.

Yup, I couldn't agree more. But then again, I sold out to the $30 200GB Seagate HDD with $70 mail-in-rebate. Now that was too good to pass up. :beaten:

qilver wrote:yeah "B", i don't like to deal with rebates, i'd say they usually mail in your money for the rebate, but there is always that chance they won't for some odd reason. just an extra hassle what you have to put up with and pay upfront. nice to save money as always. :hehe:

If the company is a well-known company, you'll more than likely get your rebate, albeit 8-12 weeks after you mail it in.

The rebate gimmick is to screw those people who are lazy/sloppy with those kinda things... And companies know that.

so....all you computer techies, how big are you computer hd's, and external hd's, total included?
so far i am with the standard 160g, that came with my computer, but of course thinking of adding an external one, maybe 160-250 more. :woot:

Internal: 60GB Master, 160GB Slave. No external drives aside from a 256MB flash drive.

$30 for a 200gb hd, must be an internal one, right?
damn, that is a great deal.
didn't know they fell that low in price.
so, you guys Seagate HD's not too bad eh?

nice, probably got loads of j-drama on those drives, eh?
256mb....you got tons of ryoko on that drive to huh?
does your slave drive have all of the 60gb back up data and more?

$30!? for 200gb? that's fcken cheap. you can buy an external case for it for let's say $30 for a more fancy looking one: can't go wrong with that

I never got me a Seagate myself, but they are known to be good n quiet.

Terryb wrote:That's totally personal, all the drives that failed on me were Maxtors. Even my quantum fireball and wd caviar of over 10years old are still working. :hehe:

Maxtors are even worse... as well as the infamous IBM DEATHstars... Quantum's are bad, i have a few still running.

... i guess i should add..

IMHO.

hd good and quiet, a very good thing eh?
external case, over an internal hd,
now that's an idea, this coming from a computer newbie...
still prefer just to get an external hd instead, don't want to hassle with it.

Nah, the 160GB Slave just has dramas that are pending editing/subtitling/burning...

No dramas on the 60GB Master, but 16GB of Ryoko. ;)

256mb....you got tons of ryoko on that drive to huh?

Pretty much: it lets me bring nearly all my pics to work for posting here at JDorama.

I might spring for 1GB later when the prices are right. :D

does your slave drive have all of the 60gb back up data and more?

I back up to DVD-RW.

an external HD = internal HD but in a case. more or less it's basically the same thing. vendors oftenly sell it like external to make extra money.

it's nothing difficult, just as easy as putting a cd in a jewelcase. (but with a few screws)

flash-usb drive of ryoko pix on the go, now that is an idea i can use to hold my nana pix and other j-idols. thanks.... :bonk:

I was amazed when I saw that price. A couple of my friends called me up telling me about it, but I thought it could be true so I rushed to Fry's after class (it's like 2 miles from school) and there it was.

Yeah, but the only catch is that it's Ultra ATA100. Which I don't mind since most motherboards still support it. You don't need bleeding-edge crap to get the most out of it. Come on, like you really need an uberfast HDD to watch your pr0n. :beaten:

Seagates are great. Not to mention that 5 year warranty that they have. Now that's a bulletproof deal.

Sure thing.

I was using 100MB ZIP discs, but those stinkin' things failed over time as do the drives themselves... :grumble:

Yup.

get it while is is hot and available, just think how many j-dramas/pix/video you can store on that thing...
50gb of BT can fill up a hd in no time, i am thinking atleast another 160 or so.
