I agree: don't smother the gal with gifts... Being thoughtful and kind would be just as effective, I think. :)

i usually smother girls with pillows.

Oh wait, you want to KEEP the girl around... in that case.. i usually leave flowers for more significant dates.. birthday for example, aniversary, SAD, etc... then again, i suck at dating. :beaten:

I don't think anyone knows the answer to this. I mean, had a guy give me a single flower on our very first date. I liked that. But then, if I was getting gifts and stuff, I'd shy away. That's just too abrupt. You just have to feel the girl out.

Asking a girl what she wants to do is always a good idea, I think. Tho of course, if you ever asked me, I'd just say, "doesnt' matter, wherever YOU wanna go", which of course leads the guy back to square one. :beaten:

yea, i guess it depends on the situation....
i've been on other dates and didn't give any flowers, of course...that was the first date, and i don't really think it is a good idea so early. I am sure the girl liked the flowers, which weren't much, something simple. But i only give gifts to a girlfriend, not really during the early dating phase.
yeah, sounds all too familiar....."wherever you want to go is fine with me...", and well, i gave her a few options, and finally after her input, i chose one.
i guess atleast it shows some initiative on my part....some.
what a girl wants....:headscratch: :beaten:

Let me take a stab at this........

Guys like that get no play (as you've just demonstrated).
Smothering a woman with gifts is NOT the way to go.
Girls like 'sensitivity' from a guy, however to only a certain degree. Guys who are too 'soft' often end up either scaring the woman away, or make the woman lose interest in them.

Finally, asking a woman where she wants to go is fine, from time to time (seldomly is what I would recommend). "Having a game plan" is what women like. (Can't be a lame one either)

Don't get me wrong now. Women LOVE to be wined and dined. Also not to mention, charm, is a must in the 'game'. Women need that. On the other hand, a guy who is a total wuss from the get go gets nothing.

Am I wrong, Wynter?

All I know, basing from my experiences with girls....they really want or should I say LIKE somebody they can talk to, somebody who listens and somebody who can they push around! hehehe! * joke!....somebody who'll take care of them and attend to their needs. Of course us guys, who have difficulty with multi-tasking won't be able to do all of those all at the same time causing....YES!!! Friction, arguments, petty quarrels etc.,etc....... :tired:

Well Aho,
From my point of view youre totally right on!

I am so tired of men who always want me to think up something to do so they can say, "No, not that, think of something else."
A guy with a good game plan is awesome. Sincere charm is always great! That's how my current BF persuaded me to go out with him. :hehe: (And his good looks ;) )
And continues to do so.... :hehe: :hehe:
Wusses are out! :bleh:

But I do love presents ;)
If presented without baggage.
Can everyone tell Im not doing this for the first time around :headscratch: Or Aho either! ;)

Sugoi! Yer right on the money, Aho-san. Either you have a lot of experience under the belt, or you have the gift of understanding women.

Wynter <--- totally impressed

Not that i'm any sort of expert, but I would imagine that it would depend on the woman in question....... but it looks like Aho has hit the mark with Wyn-chan ;)

So true. I mean, my students don't believe me when I told them I wasn't a gold-digger. Far from it. But I'm sure there are many women out there who are. Or not to an extreme, but look for that stability (in terms of money) in a man. All women are different, but I think Aho comes close to a general understanding.

Yeah, I guess that's part of the "trick" - knowing what a woman wants, and being able to cater for that. It's only when doing those things regularly isn't a chore that a guy wants to continue with a relationship.
