Good Luck with your divorce Aho! :victory:
Pretty soon we are going to have to start a Divorce Club here. :boot:
:beaten: or :woot: depending upon how you look at it. :hehe:

So far we have me, Ralph, bmwracer, Eve, Wynter and soon to be ahochaude. And that list reflects only the ones that I know of who have mentioned their divorces here. ;)

Not something I'd celebrate about, unfortunately. :bleh:

I was thinking more like James Brown's The Payback. :beaten:

I actually do find that females celebrate it more than guys do. Guys seem to not like recalling it or would rather not talk about it...

O'course, this is just a generalization based on my own observations. :)

Uh-Oh. Or This is a man's world, but it would be nothing without a woman or a girl. :puppydog:

Yeah I know. I was just trying to cheer b-kun up about it. :glomp:
IIRC in some survey I read Married Men are the happiest of all the categories. I think Married Women were the least happy. With Single Women and Single Men in-between. :)

Wow really?! And yet here we are, type-casted as the gender that most yearns to be married. So interesting!

We can throw that Cinderella - Prince Charming myth right out the window. :boot: :hehe:

I am watching the Oprah show right now and she is doing a show on scams. One woman got scammed on-line by a guy who she met in a dating chat room. He used the photo of a real male model. Not him, of course. Sorry to say she sent him money. There is a legitimate place online to check potential mates out at: romancescam.com.

I was watching ABC's news show this morning (Sat 4/14) and what were they discussing but Divorce Chic. Basically people celebrating their divorces. Here is just a some of the info they discussed:

Adult divorce camps are also popping up like one in Minnesota that offers guidance and planning solutions.

Theytookeverything.com offers a breaking up gift registry.

There's even the new "Divorce Magazine," which is designed to educate and add some comedy to the stressful milestone.

"If you can read a book or have a party or go to a support group and it makes the situation feel lighter to you, then that's all good if it gives you the opportunity to move on," Dan Couvrette, the magazine's CEO and publisher, said.

One woman even had a burial ceremony for her wedding rings. My favorite is the gift registry! :hehe: What will they think of next!

That's interesting. Gift registry is a great idea, since you need to buy all sorts or new kitchen thingies again. :D

Well, some guys get married to replace their moms and get a cheap maid. There's a new married actress that gets cheated on every month or so, in the Japanese entertainment discussion thread. =T

My divorce was a welcome festive affair. We decided to have me served at my favorite bar (The Sand Trap) and informed all our friends. The bar was jammed with well-wishers.

When the service was handed to me, the throngs of well wishers let out an ear splitting cheer. The house bought a round of drinks for everyone.

What a wonderful night.

Th funny thing is after our divorce (despite some heavy alimony and child support and awarding her the house) we became better friends than was ever possible during our marriage. Together with her new boyfriend (an avid golfer) and my new girlfriend the four of us played golf together for many months and we often met up in the bar.

Now that's divorce as it should be, don't you think?

... and I bet he still wonders why you left. :shakehead:

Wow. That's great. :applaud: You're damn lucky.

I didn't even had a breakup that have gone smooth like that. Most of them, messy on one side or the other... or both. I guess the solution is to never go out with a bad breaker-upper. for Seinfeld fans. :hehe:

Awwwww that's awesome. I believe it's rare when something is so cleancut that way.

Also, I find it ironic that we're talking about divorce in a thread meant to provide advice on relationships. :beaten:

Well, the stats speaks by themselves. Almost 1 out of 2 marriage will end in a divorce. Better prepare for it. :)

Well we might as well be upfront and talk about it here. It is a reality of the possible ending of a marriage. If most people put more serious thought into whom they chose to marry (me included), there would be fewer divorces. It is great to be romantic when deciding on a future marriage partner, but it is wiser to be realistic and see the person for who they really are, not who you wish they were. :victory:

@Ralph: My divorce wasn't quite as festive as yours, but I never even had to hire a dfivorce attorney because my soon to be ex-husband was an attorney and we filed for a no-contest divorce after one year of legal seperation. I never even went to court once. We also remained good friends after our divorce. :D
