Erm, probably not the best person to give advice... long time since i've been single, and I'd probably lock myself away in my house if I was again.. but you seem like a great person, from your pic you're attractive, you obviously have friends so you're no hermit, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to find someone. I think you've just been unlucky  I'm sure there is someone out there for you.

Of course, you can tell me to bugger off, too :)

Well that must've made him feel like a "side dish," so the end result should have been expected, ne?

Hmm, can't feel that bad for you since you apparently jerked that other guy around... A dalliance, ne?

I'm pretty much a hermit. I go to work and come home. I occasionally go out with friends or to the store, but no social gatherings with the opposite sex. Only guys I meet are at my work place, but it's rare to find someone decent and available.

I think the lack of what I wrote previously made you (and probably others) come to the wrong conclusion. The mentor guy and I could never be a couple because of the age difference (20+ years) and he always encourages me to find someone my own age. It's just a shame that I chose to get involved with someone who I have no apparent future with. :(

Yes, the mentor guy is very valuable to me and I am so grateful that he came into my life. I just wish that I treasured his friendship more.

And the feeling of being loved by someone is really rare for me. Sure, I have family and friends, but no one on a romantic level. Not for a very long time. I hate that I sometimes get so depressed about it and it sucks that when someone with any sort of potential comes into my life, I am just so damn happy that it's pathetic. I just wish I could find someone who makes me happy and vise versa. Damn, this post is just so embarassing. :ashamed:

online j-dorama thread, as long as B is cool with it...i am up for it...what have we all got to lose..right?

romance, or the lack of romance, can be a depressing thought actually, and it is nothing to be embarrassed about, atleast you had the courage to be open about it. I think that after not being in a relationship for so long, as i can relate...almost 3 years now of being single and clueless..lol, anyhow, after being unattached emotionally, sometimes i feel in the selfish mode, complacent, and disconnected mode. Sure i have my friends, family, but the connection, feeling level is different, quite different when on a romantic level. You almost forget what it is like. I sometimes choose to shut it out, and try not to let it get to me, by gosh how i despise and hate Valentines day!!! eck! :usuck:

i really think the lack of opportunities in my life, has to start with me, and within....do i make time? do i take risks? do i even care anymore, or do i want pure convenience...because i am beginning to think love is all about work, effort and more work to just try to have a chance to find someone, even somewhat intriqued of what i have to offer, believe me i dealt with online dating, and honestly, it was fun, yet frustrating at the same time, when ultimately, i want to re-enter a solid hopeful relationship...i guess i need to try again, and be more patient and understanding, and overall that is a challenge. I think all this can apply to others, as they re-enter the relationship game, it is exciting, but only if there is opportunity...but where the hell is that door, and why is no one knocking on the door of love?!?! lol

that is quite a big age difference, although it is possible that, generally speaking it could work, yet there would be a lot of obstacles, challenges, but it really takes two, two solid efforts and patience from both people.

but with work...i do see how that can be a routine, and so difficult to meet people outside of work, if all we do is go to our jobs, and then on the weekend spend time with family, and occassionally our friends...our comfort zone, our social circle...dating can, and will initially be awkward, and its all a risk...only if life were easier and more convenient.

Gomen, cori... I just got the feeling from the earlier posts that your mentor guy was just a toy to fall back on when there was no one else available...

Ditto. Sounds more like a father figure of some sort. In this case, you shouldn't feel so bad. It's not like you were dating him, dated another guy for a week, then came back to him because the other guy left. ;)

Same here. I work above a mall, so there are a lot of beautiful people, but I don't meet a lot of them. At work it's no good too. Just a few guys and they're all older than me. I could actually date 2 of my coworkers daughters, if they were still living in this town. :beaten:

The closest thing I have to a potential relationship is with someone not even in the same timezone (in the land of the raws). Considering one of her 3 favorite dramas is love generation, I'd marry her. :D Too bad these kind of girls don't stay single for long. :puppydog:

That's a recipe for disaster.

It's like dating a coworker, but worse.

Yeah... In the past, I had a few younger coworkers who tried to date the boss's daughters. (He has 4 between 19~24). They all got fired less than a month after he found out. Even one got pregnant. When he heard then news, he punched a few holes in his office walls every hour or so for a week.

Whoa.

Pregnant?

From one of your coworkers?

Yikes.

That's soap opera material. :beaten:

What are you still doing there? Move to Japan and claim the child as your own and become a mukoyoshi by taking the girl's surname as your own.

We need to see it on TV...Mukodono 2007....starring Tabana.

Sounds good to me. The girl I know doesn't have a kid tho. (as far as I know ) If I ever inherit a ramen shop or something similar, the food's on me. :P

Yup. At least his oldest already had a kid a few months before, so my coworker didn't make the boss a grand father, but still. He was really pissed off. :hehe:

Cost more than the darn noodles, I'd fathom to guess....anyway.....this is the relationship thread

I read this over @ gaijinpot

===============================================

Why gaijin husbands fell for ANY ___ girls???

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok. My husband is not that great looking white dude. Somehow everywhere he goes, Japanese girls give him their phone numbers and email addresses even though they know he is MARRIED!!! Why do they do that? Of course, it is partially my husband's fault too because he just accepts their notes. He kept saying, "They just wants to be friends with me! You should trust me!"

Should I??? Seriously, I don't trust what Japanese girls think. One of the girls whom he received the phone number from, said to me, "Everyone has affairs these days. I want to have a gaijin lover. So what's wrong with that?" I just could not believe what she said. I told my husband about it, but he won't believe me.

What do you think???
