OMG! I would LUFF that as a gift!

Work-related items that promote efficiency at the office should generally be avoided. Why bring up "work" during the holidays, which is a time for relaxation.

I wouldn't mind something work-related. I mean, after all, my job runs my life.

Gift to avoid #7:
Animals as presents are generally bad ideas unless you know the person very well. Pets are huge commitments and way too serious for a "first holiday" together.

A.J. comes to mind. :grumble:

Gift to avoid #9:
Forget cliches, such as boxes of chocolates or flowers. They show little thought or effort.

True, but I love flowers. And chocolate. :beaten:

Gift to avoid #10:
Avoid gifts that may suggest that your significant other needs to change something about himself/herself, such as exercise clothes or gym equipment, which may say that he/she doesn't look good enough as he/she is.

LOL! Seriously?! "Here, honey, I got you a treadmill..."

10 Holiday Gifts That Could Ruin a Romance

Actually that is all pretty solid advice for a first year thing.

A ring would have freaked me out... then... :hehe:

Actually last year we were too broke so we didnt do any gifts. Im glad we get to make up for it this year! :woot:

But I find giving gifts people want isnt too hard. All you have to do is think of their interests. If they like a certain thing, likely they'd like another. Not something they dont have.
One of my BF's in years past bought me a ruffled sweater. :bleh: I am not a ruffles girl. He said "well you dont have anything like it." No, I didnt and still dont. Maybe there is a reason for that!

@Wyn-chan- When do you have time for playing vid games? :headscratch:

Good thing to be a teacher then :beaten:

Absolutely.

When we have staff meetings, I'm just sitting there and doodling... The meetings are just self-indulgent, ego-polishing events for management.

Seconded. And also to talk about the latest Porsche. That always makes me want to get up, attack the Porsche with a spray can and then paint rude words in Elvish on it.

No love for the Cayman, ne?

No love for the management. And it's just a car anyway. Metal, plastic, and it can only roll forward or backward. Can't even remotely compete with any of those :inlove:

I can make the same argument: It's just a plane... A P-51. But still, a plane.
14 Dec 2007, 04:24 #971
But it's... old and still flies :P A Porsche of 2007 won't really drive in 2057 anymore. Not with all the fanzy stuff they add these days (stuff that made my parents not get into their own car anymore when they were on vacation haha)

Not to mention... the plane is faster :P MORE POWER!
14 Dec 2007, 04:35 #972
But a Porsche 356 or 550 Spyder from the 50's will still run today. :P

And we're off topic.

@Wyn-chan- When do you have time for playing vid games? :headscratch:[/quote]

Since I don't own a console myself, I usually go to my cousin's on the weekend to play.

But erm, if I had one myself, I'd prolly just watch one episode of a drama (instead of two) and spend the time playing.

Mind you, I've found that this week I haven't had much time to watch anything. :pout:

They never have caught my interest for more than a day or two. :shakehead:

Video games are bad for relationships if your partner doesn't play.

Mrs A.D. hates them. I like playing them sometimes. It causes friction :banghead:

Actually, Mrs A.D. doesn't like comps in general. We got home last night after my daughter's dance concert. I came inside, went to the loo, fed our cats and ironed a shirt for work, then checked my email on the comp.

Mrs A.D. says "I hate it when you go on the comp as soon as you get home" :beaten:

REALLY?! RPG games are my favourite, because you get to participate in a long quest. I love them. They really make one think. Well, the GOOD games do. :victory:

OMG I HATE that! It happens to me all the time. What I really hate is that I use the comp mainly to do WORK, but they still harp on me for being on the comp all teh time. As if I have a choice.

Take today as an example. I've been on the comp since 6pm, and I've done the following:
Written tests for THREE courses
Organized lessons for next week for all THREE courses
Created a new assignment for one class

And I still ahve more to do. :banghead:

Sou desu. And it's apparently OK to watch TV for hours on end, watching mindless stuff like America's Next Top Model... but not to play a game on a comp. I love Mrs A.D. dearly, but she drives me NUTS sometimes :nut:

[offtopic]
I'm with you there too: RPG games are the best. Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Final Fantasy on consoles etc :victory: [/offtopic]

Yup!!! My favourite comp game is diablo II.

On Topic: Okay, so I didn't see the married guy ALL day... until it was ready to drive home. We had about 10cm of snow during the day so our cars were buried. His car was parked about five cars away, and came over to volunteer to clean my car. I told him I was fully prepared and could manage on my own. He sort of shrugged and said, "o right, you like doing things by yourself".

What the heck does THAT mean?!

You're reading too much into it... Just go about your business and don't give it a second thought. :victory:
