You wouldn't be the first to think that.

And I doubt I'll be the last. :P

On topic: So far, so good. No one's here to bother me and I've got one show edited. :victory:

ETA: Yikes! A cancellation for Monday, so now there's only a 15-minute appointment on that day. Maybe I should reschedule it so my boss can have another day off. :beaten:

Was this person old or young or just dumb? Glad I'm not into customer service because i'd probably bitch out a lot of people. Or just post more in this thread. :beaten:

I totally got reamed out by a monster parent. It's always fun being called a liar and being accused of setting the child up for failure. The perks of teaching.

What part of "Your kid has no talent" didn't they understand? [/list:u]

It wasn't even about having no talent. The student didn't have an assignment to hand in.

Yup, that's your fault all the way. No wonder they were upset. :shakehead: [/list:u]Edit: Sounds like this kid has had his parents making excuses for him his whole life. Somewhere down the road, when the kid is a) on dope, b) in jail, c) in a mental institution, or d) all of the above, it'll be interesting to see who his parents blame. Can't possibly be them. [/list:u]

She said she wants to meet with me and I said that was fine. >>sigh<<

I know, eh?

I got a call at 5:15 this morning asking if I could come into work because the girl who was supposed to did not show up. I felt bad, but I said I couldn't because of school. There would be no way I'd be able to stay awake if I went to work first. Sigh, this same girl has done this in the past. Our old boss wanted to fire her but was not allowed to because she called back later so it technically wasn't a no-call/no-show or whatever. The last time it was when I was opening. Man, if it were tomorrow I could have gone in... sigh.

HEHE! Glad I don't open or close.
Fast food. Over the weekend, this lady came in and wanted to use her EBT card. :shakehead: I didn't know it was an EBT card so I slided her card for her and it told me that it wasn't approved or the card type wasn't accepted. I told her what happened and she said that she called our place ahead of time to ask if we accepted those. She swore the person who answered the phone told her that we do accept EBT cards. She was getting mad that we didn't take ebt cards there. She held up the line and people were getting mad. I called a manager to the back to help me out. A while later my manager comes to the back and talks to the lady. When the lady finally paid with money my manager turned to me and asked me why I didn't tell her that her card wasn't accepted. :dotdotdot: She seriously thought I was dumb enough to not tell the lady that her card wasn't working. Fast food really does suck. The managers suck as well.

Today's Friday, in the middle of school holidays, and next Monday is a public holiday. So it's totally dead in the office... and nobody on here to chat to :(

Friday :woot: I have a good excuse to leave on time! I have a hairdresser's appointment.

Speaking of what buggers me is that some senior managers think that:
- you only to click on a spell-check button to edit a 40 pages document written by a non-native English speaker. :grumble:
- it takes only five minutes to find a new slogan and visual if they change the message of an advert, usually 2 days before deadline.
- that you need to click on one button to retouch an image. :shakehead:
- it's absolutely possible to print 20000 reports in one day.:nut:
- If you feed creative people with boring details and facts, they can turn it into an amazing, Apple-like campaign, in one week, and of course with ZERO budget. :victory:
- absolutely anybody could be a marketeer even accountants :beaten:

LOL I blame Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and the likes, where CGI can do magic. But what is not shown is that hundreds of designers worked years on those movies.

I feel your pain. The other day I had a customer call in. He had cancelled his service because he was going to move. Something happened and he wasn't moving after all and wanted his service reinstated. I tried explaining to him that once you're disconnected you basically have to start all over just like a new customer and he asked, "You mean you can't just build me back in?" :shakehead: [/list:u]

 what do they think that when you cancel something, companies "pretend" to cancel but keep your account or connection or whatever secretly open?

Today I had to walk to work because of a major strike - it took one hour but at least it wasn't raining. Hope the weather remains stable tonight :fingerscrossed: .
