Hang in there. Hopefully you'll find something soon.

My friend is out of job for 6 months. You've only been out for 1 month, that is not bad. If you look intensely, for sure you will find something.

Looking. Trying to find something relatively close. 20+ mile commutes are not desirable at this point, particularly with the existing gas prices...

20+ mile commutes? Damn. That's about how far I used to commute from home to school during high school. That sucked.

Good luck with your search! :D

My ex-officemate was commuting roughly 100 miles round trip every day... That was more than enough motivation to find a new job...

100 miles?!

Might as well catch a plane to work everyday. :hehe:

Working hard I bet. :)

Hey, ahochaude! How you? Thanks for your greeting. Yeah, pretty much; is why I haven't been able to post as much.

I'll try to drop a PM line soon :victory: . Let's try to meet up again, soon.

ouch...the 100 miles isn't the bad part, that's like oc to dt, but depending on the time of day that's a 2 hr commute 1 way. don't you just love how the 5 goes from like 5 lanes to just 3 as soon as you hit the edge of la county... :bleh: that alone adds like a half hr to any commute.... i knew a kid that commuted from the oc to ucla, even with off peak traffic it still took her the better part of an hour and a half to get there...oh and then she had to find parking in westwood... that's a crappy way to start off a day.

Yup.

My ex-officemate ws coming into Torrance from Thousand Oaks. And back. The dreaded Sepulveda Pass... :bleh:

I used to drive 35 miles to and from work. Then I discovered the train/shuttle...much better. And I'm less stressed. :woot:

But my commute may increase if we decide to buy a house. With prices as it is, I may need to move out of the immediate Bay Area to afford anything. Hopefully they'll be a train station nearby or else my stress level will increase....

that's about what my commute is, 35 each way, 70 round trip daily, i think i need to find a new and closer job, with these crazy gas prices.
I don't think the train/shuttle is an option where i work at, so hopefully i can find something better. :bonk: :grumble:

Oh man, Q, that's a killer...

Are you driving north from home? That would put you on the 405 with all the other folks heading north as well... Gack. :bleh:
8 Apr 2005, 13:13 #935
Ugh, the 405. It's the pain in my back whenever I visit Southern California. I would take the 5, but the 5-10 interchange is a zoo.

dochira wrote:the 5-10 interchange is a zoo.

Worse than that: it's a disaster area.
8 Apr 2005, 13:17 #937
Hmmm...I guess 101 between Petaluma and San Rafael would be nothing to you guys....
8 Apr 2005, 20:49 #938
haha...the 5-10 interchange isn't even the worst of it...within the span of less than 2 or three miles you've got the 5-10, 10-101, 101-5 and 101-110 you gotta love downtown, especially that 101-110 interchange where they dump 2 lanes into the 110 and for some odd reason NO ONE realizes that even though those two lanes eventually lead to wilshire and other exits, there IS through traffic...i swear that part of dt doesn't move for like half the day... :bleh:

Don't forget the nasty transition from the 110 North to the 5 North... That fool thing is always backed up... What an awful design.

no, i don't use the 405, and deal with the heavy traffic. I work 35 miles away and it is usually against traffic. Out along the 71 and 60 fwy in Chino, from OC that is quite a drive and the near 1 hr commute each way is tough, but much better than the other way which is bumper to bumper most of the way. If i had to deal with that daily, i think i would have not taken the job. But the mileage and wear and tear is adding up.
 :bleh:
