I'm specifically looking for a program that:
1) enables me to put several episodes on 1 disc, breaking it by episodes and by chapters.
2) has a burning format that enables me to watch the DVD on a regular DVD player, as opposed to one that only is able to watch on a computer.
I took a look at the program that beemer talked about a few pages back (TMPGEnc DVD Author), but there's only a trial version available and I don't think I'm willing to spend $90 for the program when it expires. If I can't find anything else, I may have to though.

cori wrote:Thanks for replying beemer & Anime Dad! I'm going to check out the ConvertX that AD suggested, but if that doesn't work for me, I would love to try the TMPGEnc DVD Author, beemer. :D
Wait, wha? You mean you have to add softsubs yourself even if the drama already comes with subs?? And what is the difference between soft and hard subs? (Sorry I'm asking in the wrong section.)
bmwracer wrote:
If the drama already has subs embedded into the video (hardsubbed), you don't need to add the subs again...
Soft subs are an external subtitle file that requires another program (usually VOBSub) to merge the subs with the video while you're watching it on your PC...
cori wrote:Yikes, that sucks about the softsubs. I think that something I just downloaded has softsubs and I wanted to burn it to DVD so I wouldn't need to watch it on the computer, but it might not be worth the effort if I have to manually add the subs. :grumble:
bmwracer wrote:
If you use ConvertXtoDVD, it'll take the subs, embed them, encode the video, and create a DVD-Video (for a standalone DVD player) all for you with relatively minimal effort.
I'm a control freak, so I use different programs to achieve the same result... And I think I get better final product with the added effort. :)
cori wrote:ConvertXtoDVD really sounds like an easier program to use, so that sounds ideal for me.
There are 2 inquiries I have about ConvertXtoDVD:
1) Just to clarify: IIRC, it doesn't create a menu for each individual episode like TMPGEnc DVD Author, right?
2) If it doesn't have a menu system, is it possible to switch between episodes? Or do I have to keep hitting the "next" button till the following episode comes on? (That doesn't bother me, but I was just curious)

What program are you using?
If there are changes in the video, it might be due to one of the configuration settings like the compression ratio or something...
Jaegal_Maut wrote:I'm using Virtual dub, yeah I thought that too, there's must be something in the configuration setting that I miss.. hmm..
bmwracer wrote:
If you're using the xVid compressor, you should set the compression to Single Pass, Maximum Quality....

cori, the prog creates a menu entry for each ep, but doesn't have a scene selection area like the Seikei Bijin ones beem did for you. You can choose which ep you want to watch with the up/down arrows and then press Enter or Play. It does do chapters though, so you can just skip forward 5 minutes (or whatever it's set to) with the fast forward button (Just like on the movies I did for you).
cori wrote:I have a lot of dramas with this description and I do like them a lot. The one that beemer sent me with the scene selections were rare. Come to think of it, I think the one I got from him was the only scene selection drama that I had, so it surprised me. :P

That was created using TMPGEnc DVD Author... And one of my earlier projects... I've broken down the chapters even more to minimize the amount of searching needed... So far, I haven't found any program that's better than that one... :)
