First I need to figure out how to do that. I'll just wait on authoring that particular drama for a while..

Ah, another lesson learned: I always keep the original until the burned copy has been verified.... Completely. :)

I found out that I did not erase it, so I'm making another copy now. :dancing: I guess I'm not as stupid as I thought I was. :bonk:

I thought Convert2DVD did it for you...?

Nope, you get softsubs with ConvertXtoDVD. Why would you want hardsubbed as well? :headscratch:

Oh, I think I get it now: She's got some stuff that's already hardsubbed and others that only have softsubs and she wants to put the two different types on the same disc...

I would think that it's not a problem, but I'm unfamiliar with the program.

You mean one drama where some episodes have soft and some have hard? You should be able to do that with ConvertX. It will detect the soft subs automatically.

I think that's what cori means.... But we'll never know until she logs in.

Yup, she might have already solved the problem. :victory:

If that's the case, then it's easy - no problem :)

Yup, one drama series with hard and soft subs. Quite strange, but whatever. And I haven't tried it yet, I was just wondering if it was possible to do that. I'll probably try to see if it works out after I'm done authoring the current series I'm doing now.

If it doesn't work, I'm sure we'll hear from you... :beaten:

THere are a few dramas that are like that (Brother Beat comes to mind). I wonder if it's because another subbing group took over from the first or something...

Good luck!

If I remember correctly, Brother Beat was hardsubbed for the first 4 episodes and then the subbers quit.... eventually the soft subs appeared.
Fortunatley I was sent a raw Brother Beat from a friend in Tokyo so I was able to apply even sub distribution for the entire series.

Geez gave me a toughie the other day to hardsub (The Vampire Gigolo), because it had idx/sub files instead of srt/ssa files...

But turns out it wasn't bad at all, since VirtualDub had a built-in VobSub filter which can handle idx/sub files without skipping a beat. :victory:

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right thread, but oh well.

Anyway, I tried recording something on TV using my DVD recorder. Unfortunately,I'm not able to make copies with it. I tried finalizing it, but that doesn't work. I'm not sure what to do. (By the way, I have used this DVD recorder before and it worked fine with previous recording, it's just this one disc that's faulty.)

My question is: is there any way to make the DVD copyable?

Sounds like you've got a bad disc... Have you tried ripping the data from the disc with a program like DVD Decrypter?

I haven't tried DVD Decrypter yet. Since my PC is slowing down nowadays, I'm reluctant to download programs, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to try that out. :(

On a totally unrelated topic, for those of you who use the program ConvertxtoDVD, when there are softsubs, do the subtitles show on the video preview? I'm just wondering because I'm authoring a drama to DVD right now and the subs are not showing up. Is there something I need to do?

No they don't, because there is the ability to have more than one subtitle for each track (Different languages etc) so which one would you have show during preview?

I know this because i wondered the same thing and looked into it on their forum :P

Thanks for answering so quickly, AD! I was beginning to think that I should just quit the program just in case it didn't work out...well, to tell the truth, I did try redoing it at least 4 times. I hope this works. :fingerscrossed:

Without that program or another, you won't be able to recover the recording on the disc...

If you want, send the disc to me and let me try. :)

I tried converting a drama with softsubs using ConvertxtoDVD, but when I tried to burn it, the folder/file isn't clickable. Is there something different I have to do than when I burn dramas with hardsubs?

I'll ask shin2 what he wants me to do because I'm recording that for him. But thanks for the offer because I'd love to get a copy for myself. :)
