Yeah, my bad...get back to the video recording chatter.....my friend who bought a 52 inch Sharp LCD also has an XBOX...which he has setup on his wirless network at home....along with a couple of PC's....when he wants to watch some downloaded films or dramas....he can access them on his TV from his PC's hard drive to his XBOX which he has set up as some kind of server & watch them wirelessly....no need to author anything....pretty nifty huh?

Yup! My cousin did that to his as well. I don't really have to because I have a DVD player that plays divX, so I've never had a personal need to author. I only learned to do it for the people I trade with. Mind you, I still have to BURN the discs, instead of accessing them straight from the PC. Hmmm... mebbe I will look mine up that way. I just have to get the wireless for the xbox still.

Oh he has a Divx player too...it's just easier to watch it off your hard drive sometimes.....well I see your point if it's soft subbed you'd have to hard sub it because the XBOX doesn't play .srt files...although it does play Divx files.

O it doesn't? Well that sux. My dvd player automatically reads the .srt files, so it's all good. I still want to get the wireless tho so I can play kit-kun online. Do you have an xbox?

Nah I don't have an XBOX....I don't want to get sucked in by the fab games they have now a days!

I occassionally play video games on my PC....but for me I have a Divx player too...and since I recently upgraded my TV to a more current HD model I can just hook up my PC to TV via an HDMI cable...it's easy as pie so I don't have to author discs for that reason....I can either use my PC directly hooked up to the TV...or use my Divx player....I'm quite sick of burning discs JUST to watch them on my TV though.....so it's nice to have options.

yea that's true. Ever since I got my TV/DVD player hooked up in my room, I rarely watch dramas on my computer anymore. And leaving files as raws take up less space and discs, too. And usually the quality is better.

I do change the names now! :woot: I wasn't aware that you could do that before, and AP was the first I'd ever done. But I do change them now. I play with the colour of text now, too.

Wynter <--- such a noob

Yay, seems like you're having fun with converting/authoring stuff. It's such a wonderful feeling to see the finished product, isn't it. :) Just don't make the subs with purple cursive fonts or anything weird like that. :P

Well I haven't touched the subs yet. I'm just talking about menu fonts. :beaten:

It must be a satisfying feeling. But I wouldn't know personally since I don't need to author for personal reasons.

Yeah you're right, kiddo. In any event I need a new burner....my burner will burn whatever is already on my hard drive, but if I had to copy a drama from a disc in order to burn it to another disc...it won't read the disc.....lameness.

Trying out a new, free avi to mpeg2 encoder, HC Enc.

A lot of people seem to think it's better than TMPGEnc, so it's worth a test run. :victory:

I got a new toy to play with, a Toshiba 911T JDM phone. :hehe:

Unfortunately, the phone recognises only a limited amount of formats that support ringtones, such as SMAF-7, HE-AAC, .mmf...

Hopefully someone here with such phones OR experience can help me with my queries as to where I can find good converters. ^^"

Itai: it was still running when I left for work this morning... NINE hours later.

Guess I shouldn't have chosen the "Best Quality" setting.

LOL.

See my niece: she's an optometrist. :beaten:

BTW, try searching through videohelp.com... They might have the conversion program you're looking for. :victory:

Itai, that two-pass encode took 12 hours... Ridiculous. :shakehead:

The improvement in the video image was minimal, so what's the point?

I've got to try another setting or settings that'll give me comparable quality, without taking half the day to process. :bleh:

^ You sure like to try out new programs, don't you. :hehe: That 12-hour process sounds insane though. Stick to what works for you, I say.
