OK, I tried V3 today. I used the Glossy Black menu template, and like cori-chan I tried to use a background pic. Also like cori-chan, I either screwed up, or that part of the prog doesn't work properly, because it didn't show for me either. But the menu I chose looks very nice, and is a big improvement on the last version - at least you have a chapter selection screen now. Apparently the prog will join files together, if you want, which will be useful for those movies that come in two avi files. I burned the first episode of Ashita no, Kita Yoshio (50+ minutes) by itself to a DVD, and the whole thing took about 20 minutes including burning! ( we have shiploads of cheap DVD-R's here that got supplied with the comps we have here, and nobody else burns DVD's). Could be because my work comp is a quad core with 4G ram, and this version is designed to work with quad core processors. I'll try a few movies now I think, and see how they turn out :)

Ok, you just made me want to cry by saying this. It takes me about 1 hour for a 45 minute drama, not including burning (all I can recall is that it takes about 30 minutes to burn four 45 minute episodes). Of course, I'm using a laptop with 512mb ram. :shamefulcry: I'm at the f*cking point where I'm just wanting to buy a new desktop computer just so I don't have to deal with all the crap that this old comp leaves me complaining about. That way most of my bitching and moaning will stop. Hopefully.

It's less about RAM and more about CPU power.
JUST DO IT. :grumble:

Hmm, didn't mean to upset you cori-chan! But as beem said, it's probably time to update. Especially if you're going to be doing a lot of burning.
*edit* Wrong thread... how did that happen?

Blame it on the pixies.

Damn pixies :usuck:
OK, just used V3 of ConvertX again, this time to author the Death Note movie. I would REALLY recommend getting a new computer, if you can afford it. It knocked over the conversion AND burning in around 35 minutes, for a 2-hour movie. I used the "Thriller" template this time, which has some really nice animated effects for switching between menu screens. This is not really necessary, but looks great.
I don't know if it's because of the quad-core comp, but I didn't notice any slowing down of other programs... I was using Firefox and Outlook at the same time.

Those two programs don't use much CPU power anyways.... But yeah, CPU horsepower is what it's all about when your converting/encoding. :victory:

Hai. But my comp at home slows down noticeably when encoding/burning. That's with the setting on "Normal" too, I wonder how it would go on "Time Critical"?

What kind of CPU do you have at home?
Celeron 3.06G, 1G ram. Not the best :grumble:

A Celeron 3GHz shouldn't be that bad, ne?
It's not TOO bad. But it ain't a quad core :P
I'm not complaining though. It's much better than my last comp...

Spoiled. :P
I gave up on the new ConvertX program and went back to the older one which I'm used to. I think I'll try the newer one when I get (or build) a new computer, which will hopefully be this month or next. :fingerscrossed:

I'm contemplating on building my own though. Or rather, having my brother build it for me. :beaten:

Yay cori! You'll be amazed at the difference.
