Around VHS video quality, ne?

Yeah, that sucks. :( Still, there are some dramas out there that only came in VCD format, so I'll take what I can get.

At least with VHS tapes, you can use an S-VHS recorder to get it to decent quality.

I think it's better than that... By a little.

Only if you have an S-VHS recorder, which are rather rare... And use the S-Video output from that recorder.

The other downside is that you had to have recorded whatever in S-VHS... After the fact doesn't do you any good....

I've never seen an S-VHS recorder

Can't say that I've seen one in person, either... No worries, it didn't take.

Anyone want to buy a used Hi-Vision HD VCR?

Only $2450USD.

I had one during the dying phases of VCRs. Much better quality than VHS but far from DVD based recordings. And yes, the program must have been encoded with s-vhs to play back with same. I am so glad those days are behind us. :woot:

I'm having problems authoring episodes 9, 10, and 11 of Ashita no Kita Yoshio. I've tried twice with ConvertX, and both times, the subs were really, really low that you can't read it. It's also white, and I made sure that it was yellow when I checked the sample. This has never happened before, only these episodes of this drama (episodes 1-8 were yellow and were able to read). Any clues on how to fix this or what went wrong?

Are the subs .srt files or something else?

They are .srt files.

Hmm.

Are those last three episodes different in some way (aspect ratio, etc.)?

Try authoring just one or two episodes instead of three and see what happens...

I know it's a pain in the ass to redo it, but what other choices do you have?

The last three eps don't seem different in any way. I don't know why, but I wasn't able to watch any of them on my computer, so I didn't get a chance to check that part.

I'm authoring episode 9 right now just to see if it works. I shall post again after I'm done. And with the slowness of the computer, I'm guessing it'll be in about 1 1/2 hours (including burning it to disc).

That's weird, i've never had that with .srt files before. I have with other formats, but after I realised what had happened, I converted them to .srt and they were fine. (Kuitan 2 subs)

Hmm, that could be a hint right there.

Are you able to view the other eight episodes on your PC?

Nope.

And I finished authoring & burning episode 9 and it was fine (visible yellow subs). Should I try authoring the other two episodes separately just to see if it works?

I suppose.

I'll bet they'll work as well... Individually.

Try authoring two episodes together and see what happens.
