I rest my case. :victory:

I don't have anything against people holding on certain aspects of naivete, it just needs to be tempered with experience. I think there's a delicate balance to be gained, between permitting yourself continued willful ignornance of a hard world and making carefully planned decisions to further personal goals within the framework of the adult world.

I pride myself on and constantly strive to always enjoy things that many people my age give up - I spent a lot of time watch random people and try to enjoy every little detail around me, where many people get so caught up in their own affairs, they just miss the world around them as they grow up.

I try, at least a couple times a week, to find something intriguing in something that strikes me as boring.

I'm very easily amused at very simple things, but require herculean efforts to make me laugh when you're trying to :)

So I think it's all about balance. She's in many ways that super innocent unscathed perfection we love about children, but the series forces her to confront the realities of the world she chose - competitions, relationship expectations, negotiating with adults (and not always getting your own way). That's why she's so lovable - she's got the big eyes of curiosity for everything and sees opportunity where many would see limitaiton. It's easy to like that, but it's also easy to recognize that, to a point, it's often unrealistic.

However, I think she could easily hold on to her mannerisms and that'd be fine with me. I myself often burst in to fits of unrelated expository because the mood strikes me, regardless of who is standing around or where I may be - I'll use deeply inside references to make comments to complete strangers and then have a little chuckle.

Further, if they get the references, I get a lot more interested in them!

I can only imagine the look I'd have on my face if I ever came across you or someone like you doing such a thing. Probably the first thing to cross my mind would be, what the heck is he talking about?

A little Nodame headtilt

Fine, you win. I'll be with Nodame while the rest of you can fight over Kiyora :hehe:

Haha.. I actually think I live for exactly that. That I can enjoy it internally and maybe cause someone outside to question something. I think people are far too complacent and disinterested in what's going on around them. I tend to enjoy the "stirring of the pot" where I can do so in a way that's not offensive and maybe results in a little smile.

I actually sometimes set goals for myself in random encounters - try to elicit a smile, or a little laugh. And the more dour and bitchy they look, the harder I try :)

You've got that all wrong, friend: my argument was totally pro-Nodame while you and phlargo were to the contrary...

To the victor, the gomi-onna (garbage girl). :victory:

And I have to say I think Kiyora would be way too high maintenance. She's really beautiful and a hell of a musician, but she's alternatively bossy and bitchy and weak and vulnerable - classic fake confidence type. She puts on the show in public, but she's a mess in private. Mine can keep that one.

Again, not saying I wouldn't be jealous as hell in some ways, just think I know better than to fall into a trap like that.

I actually think it's rare that a girl in a series is date-able, in my eyes.

The beautiful Kaori (there's the name again) (Matsushita Nao) in Koi ni Ochitara may be the closest yet (at least 3.25 eps in) - she's smart, ambitious, willing to adapt for someone she likes. She's not afraid to get her pretty white dress muddied to help a kid out. She actively goes and talks to the guy she senses trouble with. Maybe has some relationship issues with the Frontier company owner, but in general, she seems pretty solid. And I can't imagine a day where I'd get tired of looking at her. Yum.

I'm hoping to watch the final episode of Nodame as soon as I can. Both me and my boyfriend are sooooo stressed with this moving business. Although, we think we may have found our new place. :victory:

I'm off to bed now, so goodnight folks! :D

Being a character actor (and a pretty well-known one), I'd imagine so. :beaten:
