Attack No.1 [アタック No.1]
Rating: 2/10 (Watched)
Attention Please [アテンションン プリース]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Ueto Aya is nicely suited for this role with her musical background. A nice care free drama with a mini story happening in each episode - although at times this leads to the end of each episode becoming too predictable.
Beautiful life [ビューティフルライフ]

Densha Otoko [電車男]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Like Sapuri, there was originally a lot of hype about Densha Otoko and if anyone needs to find out about the workings of true otaku and hikikomori then I guess this is the best place to start. Although I would say that Itoh Atsushi did a sterling job in his role, I must say that all of his character's mumbling and bumbling really started to piss me off about half-way through. I stuck through it though and finally watched a most predictable ending.
Gokusen [ごくせん]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
I actually thoroughly enjoyed this drama for the most part. The story-line was fresh and the characters were interesting in each of their own rights. Unfortunately in the final three episodes, the monotonity of the script starts to take effect and all that is left is a feeling of an attempted clone of GTO. Nakama Yukie's character, although interesting at first, becomes annoyingly hypocritical by having a complete split personality: a teacher that strives for politeness and good behaviour in school but then beats the shit out of the 'villains' with yakuza style. Although I'm sure she's 9th dan karate, I become slightly sceptical when she defeats 10+ massive bad guys with various weapons etc. when she has a massive height of 160cm and weighs 46kg (according to JDorama)
Gokusen Season 2 [ごくせん2]
Rating: 2/10 (Watched)
To some people, continuity is a key feature for a sequel drama. However, the idea of the first series was not very strong and the predictablity and patheticness of the story-line really means that this drama is not even worth thinking about. I watched the first 6 episodes and had had ENOUGH at that point. As far as Nakama Yukie's acting is concerned..... well the character she plays is so badly written that I'm sure even the most cunning of Shakespearean actors could not have pulled it off.

Kimi wa Petto [きみはペット]

I have to fully agree with drama review #42 about this drama. If you are not a girl under the age of 16, stay well clear of this drama. For a positive, the acting is marginally border-line ok....ish. The plot on the other hand is the biggest piece of bollocks I have ever heard. Can't believe some sad person actually wrote a storyline like this. The main character is so retarded, you just want to beat the shit out of her. She should seriously be in some kind of mental institution and the same goes for the Momo character who.... damn... I don't know what the hell he's playing at. All the main characters should be killed forthwith and Junpei and Rumi should get together: end of story. The reason I gave this a 3 rather than less is cos unlike other shitty dramas, I actually was motivated into hating the characters rather than just staring blankly at the screen. The only last thing to say is: maTsuMotoJun is sooooo kawaiiiii / kakkoiiii!!! ^_^. SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LEARN SOME FUCKING ENGLISH GRAMMAR
Kurosagi [クロサギ]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
This was my first Yamapi drama and being slightly suspicious of the talents of boy band-become-actor types, I was surprised to see a strong performance by him. A good story-line helped good acting and sticking with a good tactic of doing unrelated episodes at the beginning and then slowly linking them together from half-way, made Kurosagi more entertaining to me than a lot of other dramas. Definitely a must-watch drama.! No problems that I could think of.
Last Christmas [ラストクリスマス]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Long vacation [ロングバケーション]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
The one that made Kimutaku famous.... or so its said. Even though other than him I was not familiar with the cast, I thoroughly enjoyed this nice little drama. The characters are played well and even though there is somewhat of an age gap between the two main characters, the storyline was convincing while not allowing the relationship to develop a sort of old woman goes out with far younger men type feel. The plot is well worked such that even until the last episode, the watcher is left wondering who will end up with whom. As I play the piano myself, it was nice to see a very well written 'Ryoko-chan' character whose delicate and indecisive emotional state resembled a few of my near-virtuoso-level musician friends. :P
Musashi [武蔵]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
My Boss, My Hero [マイボスマイヒロ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Odoru Daisousasen [踊る大捜査線]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
Considering I'm trying to rate relative to other dramas I have seen, Odoru really is the creme de la creme of Japanese drama and that is made obvious by the fact that any Japanese person you ask will have heard the Odoru theme tune. Excellent acting, story-line, continuity, music with a dash of comedy and unlike other dramas, watching it a second time is not boring. If you have never seen a Japanese drama before and you want to see the best that is on offer, then this is the drama of choice.
Orange Days [オレンジデイズ]
Rating: 8/10
Pride [プライド]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Sapuri [サプリ]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
This was such a greatly advertised drama that I thought it would definitely be an 8 or a 9 for me. Unfortunately although the story is fairly solid, the characters for me were unconvincing especially Kamenashi Kazuya's character who at times seemed far too childish and/or feminine for his own good. However, as said, the story line was good with Ryo and Sato Koichi giving veteran performances.
