If anyone here was getting married (or has got married) Would they ask the girls father first or not?
I guess I would talk to him first, as a matter of respect, and a formality, albiet rather old fashioned I guess...
Me and my girlfreind won't be doing anything of the sort for a long while yet, but it is still something I have thought about. Im sure her family would be fine, they all love me (God knows why) but even so, they are all very strict christians, and im a pierced athiest with multicoloured hair, so yea

On a random note, my mum told me she might be getting married next year, to my dad! They divorced years back, but got back together not really that long after. Being best man at my dads wedding might be quite odd!

OK, here goes:

- At what age do you wanna get married?
-- Sometime after 30, preferably before I die.

- Any plans for the ceremony? (the venue, atmosphere, costume, etc)
-- Something small, nothing too lavish. Beyond that, I've no clue.

- Where would u go for your honeymoon? =]
-- Somewhere coool. Or bed.

- At what age do you wanna have a baby?
-- Maybe 3 or so years into the marriage. It always amazes me when people have kids RIGHT after they get married. What if it doesn't work out??

- How many children do you wanna have?
-- Two point five. Maybe more.

After 30 (which... is only a few months away lol)

traditional Japanese (kimono! kimono!), but not too many guests

Most likely making a tour across Japan invading several ryokan and onsen on the way

- At what age do you wanna have a baby?
some time after the wedding, let's say, 2-3 years would work well

- How many children do you wanna have?
3, daughters only (they're more clever than boys and I can handle females better than males), that would be the preferrence, but eh, I don't mind sons either. Heck, I've even named them already lol.

yeah i guess i would also take their consent ... the fact is that they r her parents right !! ... and we all have like atleast 30 yrs ahead , so might as well be in it together .... but "she" is priority 1.

dude as for your parents getting married again I think that is really sweet, hey got only 1 life right, make the most of it .. especially with someone to share it with ..
14 Apr 2005, 11:46 #148
My parents have been together 25 years...I think it has to do with the fact that they're friends as well as husband and wife. I can only hope to stay married that long.

I'm only on girlfriend #4, so at almost 25 years of age, I guess I tend to have long relationships too  .

agree with u on the long relationship part totally, i guess now one wants something worth the time and energy .. else is just a pain in the ass after 2 months .. u realize that just to have fun and hang out .. u always have friends ... intimacy .. well thats when u need some "one"

i have seen western countries marriage is not as strong as in asian countries like india ... ah by the way i am indian ... out there marriage is some thing sacred so is very important ...well was atleast ... the mtv generation of ours does move fast is these things also so divorces are increasing ... but wayyyyy lower then western countries .

I will.... :hehe:

Of course...in traditional societies like India, where the social pressure to stay together is more intense, the marriages can end up being more devistating to the wife (and husband) if it's not a happy marriage.

Although I'm all for long term marriage, I've never been "at all costs."

But I'm sure that having more pressure to stay together also means that couples are more willing to work out their problems before considering going their seperate ways.
14 Apr 2005, 12:21 #153
EXACTLY .... it is that kind of unseen but known pressure .. so the best way is to work out things (of course if their is a problem, i mean there are pure n simple good marriages also .. my parents for example ... simple understanding of each others responsibilites and love and respect for each other)

ofcourse at our age .. it is all that rush of love and excitement and ahem :naughty: but well when u think of staying 20, 30 years together then u really THINK

and thats when u get a bit scared ...is it the right one.. amm maybe ...maybe not .. oh well what the hell lets try !!!

At least you live in Malaysia. If you live in California, getting a house is difficult... if not near impossible
