Yow, I must've thought of that subconsciously: I didn't make the connection.

Can cori say "Gyaboo!" or "Mukyaa!"...? :hehe:

Ya! Come to Hawaii!! :P Haha, you're such the matchmaker, Wyn. Anyway, I don't think beem would be interested in me because he already knows about my crazy obsessive side. :ashamed:

beem: I'm all gyabooo-ed out! :hehe:

I'm a bit curious about that book. So curious that I'm thinking of getting it.

I didn't want to quote your entire posts, but I've read it all and it was very insightful. I also enjoyed your other post that mentioned where to find someone and such.

That was interesting about you meeting a girlfriend at church. I'm a little afraid to do that because 1) I'm drifting between religions at this point and 2) I don't want to end up with some fanatic. Oh, also 3) if I did meet with someone in that type of atmosphere, it would suck to break up and still go to the same church.

Re-entering the dating scene is just plain hard. I imagine that I'll just end up being those creepy old ladies who everyone feels sorry for because they couldn't find a husband.

I guess the best thing to do is just not openly look for someone and they'll come. At least, that's the advice some people have given me.

Being open to anything new, that opens doors, but i think being selective at the same time can be of great benefit in weeding out the bad...ie: night clubs, bars, and other one-night flight type of environments.
I am re-newing my membership to Eharmony, and i don't know what to expect, i'm trying to again be optimistic which is sometimes of a challenge, despite my discouragement with dating. I just want to get out there and date(not meeting them at clubs, etc...not my scene).

the advice of not openly look for someone and they'll come, it sounds nice...but i do believe some effort has to be taken on, to risk it and find someone, but it depends on what approach. Some of it is clearly by chance, some of it is by sheer determination, and some of it is crazy. I think from what i hear, a lot of people hook up, by knowing someone through someone else, networking through people, having them introduce you to someone else's friend, cousin, etc....
my problem is that i don't get out much and meet new people, and i don't know anyone that can introduce me to any nice girl. It has been limiting to say the least. So, i do think you have to be somewhat open to dating/relationship, make yourself available, BUT yet selective at the same time, in limiting on what approaches, like not meetinging anyone at local bars, night clubs, and those kinds of environments. Online dating is another avenue, but there is money invested, and time...it really takes a bit of patience, and i can attest to that. Being open, and flexible, but know yourself, and what you seek, is probably the best approach to take into a new relationship. Also, knowingly that it is all a risk, and if you want a new relationship, taking the first step getting out there having fun, and see what happens...sounds good in theory doesn't it...reality is somewhat tougher.

10 Secrets About Men

Nov 3, 2007
Evan Marc Katz

Esquire magazine has female celebrities telling us "10 Things Men Don't Know About Women." Here's my take on what they and their sisters don't know about men.

1. You don't want to be judged for your looks; we don't want to be judged for our wallets. Unless we're ugly and have lots of money. Then it's OK.

2. You're not the only person who likes to be called "sexy."

3. Saying "I love you" is a major step in a man's life. That's why we wait for you to take that step first.

4. We are not being cheap when we make $35,000 a year and can't afford to pay every single date. We are merely being practical.

5. A guy who spends too much time in the gym is making up for something else that's lacking. Unfortunately, you can't figure out what it is until it's too late.

6. Don't get mad at us because we don't remember what you were wearing on our first date, or the angle of the light during our first kiss. We were probably drunk.

7. You're good in bed if you make us feel like stallions.

8. Jealousy isn't a sign that you love us more, it's a sign that you trust us less.

9. Hanging up on us is a surefire way to make sure we go to bed mad.

10. We're sorry. Whatever it is, we're sorry.

We're pretty obvious tho. ;)

Friends are probably the best way to meet someone, unless they're like mine: all in mortgage and babies mode. So they don't go out. Since friends tend to know you and your tastes, it helps filter the people you wouldn't be interested in.

If that's no good as well as the bars and clubs, then it's either getting a new job somewhere or join some sort of club to meet new people. I'm not sure what tho, cause I would've join one. Maybe the Ferrari owners club. :headscratch:

What if you have no friends?

Yes, what if you don't have any friends?

The few friends I have are all older than me, as well, and often exclude me when the subject of men comes up. :pout:

Then you need to find friends first. Easy when you're in an environment where you meet lots of new people and need to work with them, like University. It's harder to meet people, when you're alone. I mean, even going into bars is weird. Sitting alone at the bar... Feels alcoholic.

I can't help you with that. Really. My only single, childless friend left town 2 months ago. So you could say I have no friends in this town and have no idea how to meet new ones. :shamefulcry: :ashamed: :pout:

Yup, all my friends are married.

With kids.
4 Nov 2007, 13:10 #817
Only a couple of my friends are married, one is in the mainland, and the rest, I hardly see. Doubt they'd have any male friends I'd be interested in. Or so they say...

^ Too bad I wasn't in the same area as you and beem because I'd totally hang out with you guys! Not sure about the romance thing because I doubt either of you would be interested in me.
